INTRODUCTION<\/div>\n
The Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center (BMCM+AC) and the Media Arts Project (MAP) will host the third annual {Re}HAPPENING on Saturday, April 7, 2012. The {Re}HAPPENING takes place on the original Lake Eden campus of the former Black Mountain College, now Camp Rockmont, located just outside of Black Mountain, NC. BACKGROUND<\/div>\n
Inspired by our idea of what a typical Saturday night at Black Mountain College might have been like, the {Re}HAPPENING begins with a meal\u2013with tastes from over a dozen different local restaurants and farms\u2013with various performances taking place around the seated audience. During the second half of the evening the dining hall becomes the main performance space, while music, multimedia art and more takes place across the rest of the campus into the night. Over 400 people attended the 2011 event, which featured over 50 artists and dozens of local restaurants and farms. ELIGIBILITY<\/div>\n
This call is open to artists and students with interest in the legacy of Black Mountain College. Artists may apply as a team, but the application should clearly describe the contribution of each collaborator.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
ABOUT THE SPACE: The {Re}HAPPENING takes place on the original Lake Eden campus of the former Black Mountain College. Please visit our website for a detailed map of how the buildings and grounds have been used over the past two years. SCOPE OF WORK<\/div>\n
We are currently looking for proposals that fall into the mediums of Installation Art, Performance Art, Sculpture, Multi \/ New Media, Sound, Interactive Art, Architecture, Design and 2D work that doesn\u2019t rely on being hung in a formal gallery setting. The site for the {Re}HAPPENING includes both indoor and outdoor spaces and special attention is paid to leaving the site untouched and unaltered.<\/div>\n

AWARD<\/div>\n
A limited amount of free housing for chosen artists is available on the grounds of the Black Mountain College campus on the evenings of Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7, 2012. Dinner will be provided for all chosen artists on the evening of April 7, preceding the event. Chosen artists will also be provided with 2 Free After-Dinner Tickets to the {Re}HAPPENING. Artists are encouraged to fundraise for materials and travel expenses via Kickstarter or IndieGoGo. Both the MAP and BMCM+AC will help promote fundraising campaigns, through their respective communities. \u2022 Written statement about your approach to making art<\/div>\n
\u2022 Explanation of your interest in Black Mountain College<\/div>\n
\u2022 Proposal for how your would like to activate a space at the {Re}HAPPENING<\/div>\n

2. Resume or C.V. (submit as PDF)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
3. Digital Images<\/div>\n
\u2022 Up to 10 images or scanned sketches (submit as 72 dpi JPGs, not exceeding 1.5 MB each)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Title, date, media and short description for each image (submit as one-page PDF)<\/div>\n
\u2022 Please include at least 3 images of past work to give us an idea of your history<\/div>\n

SELECTION CRITERIA<\/div>\n
A panel of artists & representatives from BMCM+AC and the MAP will review submissions and select artists.<\/div>\n

NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS<\/div>\n
Applicants will be notified via e-mail of the panel’s decision in mid-February.<\/div>\n
