The<br \/>\nselected technical staff will join a team of 7 highly motivated<br \/>\neducation technology specialists building the teaching and learning<br \/>\nsystems of tomorrow. We have room for individuals ready to take on<br \/>\ntechnical responsibility for systems including Google Apps for<br \/>\nEducation, Atlassian Confluence, Kaltura video streaming, Xythos File<br \/>\nStorage and Sharing, Blackboard and the Solaris system support for our<br \/>\nComputer Science undergraduate classes. Our team is tasked with<br \/>\ncrafting the suite of tools and services which permits faculty and<br \/>\nstudents to share, learn and do things not previously possible. We are<br \/>\ncurrently undertaking an exploratory project to replace our file<br \/>\nstorage and sharing solutions with a unified set of systems which will<br \/>\nchange how students engage with their faculty on data analysis and<br \/>\neducation. Our team is dedicated to developing and deploying the Sakai<br \/>\nOpen Source learning management system, moving NYU off of Blackboard<br \/>\nand on to Sakai in the near future. We run a Citrix\/VMWare Virtual<br \/>\nComputing Laboratory permitting students to do their stats and<br \/>\nillustrator homework from any location, any time of the day.<\/p>\n<p>The selected candidates will have interest and expertise in a subset<br \/>\nof the technologies for which Academic Technology Systems team is<br \/>\nresponsible. Specific duties include assessing and prioritizing<br \/>\ntechnical options, championing proven software development lifecycle<br \/>\npractices, and developing and implementing customizations and<br \/>\nintegrations in a large scale, complex environment. Performance<br \/>\noptimization and uptime are also a significant responsibility of this<br \/>\nrole. In addition to the specific requirements listed here, we will<br \/>\nconsider candidates with very strong UI\/UX and front end coding<br \/>\nskills, as well as performance engineers and virtualization<br \/>\nspecialists.<\/p>\n<p>Information Technology Services (ITS) is NYU&#8217;s central organization<br \/>\nfor technology-based services for University faculty, students, staff,<br \/>\nand administrators. ITS provides computer, network, telephony and<br \/>\nInternet services to the entire University.
