NORTH HOLLYWOOD<\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0Calif.<\/strong>, Jan. 25, 2012\u00a0<\/strong>— The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation is now accepting applications for its prestigious summer\u00a0Student Internship Program<\/a>. The Foundation\u2019s Student Internship Program, recognized as one of the country\u2019s top programs, provides more than 40 internships within the entertainment industry to undergraduate and graduate students from across the country. All submissions must be postmarked by March 15, 2012.<\/p>\n

The competitive eight-week program is based in\u00a0Los Angeles\u00a0and provides students with real-world work experience and in-depth exposure to the television industry, focused within their specific field of interest. Positions are offered in a variety of sectors of the business, including production, post-production, business affairs, development and public relations.\u00a0 Each intern is hosted by a company that has teamed with the Foundation to create a rewarding, unparalleled learning experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of their duties, interns have worked on top shows such as \u201cCalifornication,\u201d \u201cTrue Blood\u201d and \u201cMad Men,\u201d as well as the \u201cStar Trek\u201d franchise.\u00a0 Several former interns have gone on to illustrious industry careers, working at major networks and agencies and on such hit programs as \u201cThe Office,\u201d \u201cDesperate Housewives,\u201d \u201cBones,\u201d \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d and \u201cThe Daily Show,\u201d to name a few.<\/span><\/p>\n

Past host companies include CBS, The Disney Channel, E! Entertainment, FOX, HBO, NBC Universal, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Warner Bros., and many others.\u00a0 2012 host companies will be announced later in the selection process.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Television Academy Foundation\u2019s Student Internship Program provides students with a unique opportunity to acquire hands-on experience in a very competitive industry,\u201d said Norma Provencio Pichardo, Executive Director of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation.\u00a0 \u201cStudents who have gone through this program come out the other side with invaluable resources and contacts that are the key to a successful career in television.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Each program participant is granted a $4,000 stipend to help defray the costs associated with taking an unpaid internship.\u00a0 Assignments are determined by the host companies and coincide with relevant production schedules to maximize each student\u2019s experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Television Academy Foundation\u2019s Student Internship Program offers opportunities in various aspects of the television industry including: Agency, Animation, Art Direction\/Production Design, Broadcast News, Casting, Children\u2019s Programming\/Development, Cinematography, Commercials, Costume Design, Development for Television (Episodic or Alternative\/Reality), Digital Entertainment, Documentary\/Nonfiction Production, Editing (Episodic or Reality), Entertainment News (Broadcast or Online\/Print News), Episodic Series, Legal and Business Affairs, Lighting Design, Live Event Production, Marketing, Movies for Television, Music, On-Air Promotion, Post Production, Production Management (Scripted or Reality), Programming, Public Relations & Publicity, Sound, Television Directing (Multi or Single-Camera), Television Scriptwriting(Comedy or Drama) and Unscripted Television.<\/span><\/p>\n

Launched in 1986, the Television Academy Foundation\u2019s Student Internship Program has hosted more than 800 students from both large and small colleges and universities across the nation.<\/span><\/p>\n
