We began broadly, studying a wide swath of the Upper East Side from 59th-96th Streets, Lexington Avenue to the East River. Volunteers record basic building information, such as address, block and lot, number of stories, window type, building material and style. Our surveyors also take digital photos of each building. We input all of this information into an Access database.<\/p>\n<p>The result of this survey will be\u00a0a comprehensive digital inventory of practically every building on the Upper East Side.\u00a0\u00a0Our\u00a0goal is to disseminate our research\u00a0via an interactive website, which will include historical narratives and photographs, as well as a database of individual buildings searchable by address, date of construction, architect and other data.
