and takes his place on stage. \u201c5\u2026 4\u2026 \u201c. In full make-up as President Barack Obama, the SNL veteran<\/p>\n
breathes deeply as the stage manager completes the final countdown to air, “3…2…1…” In between the<\/p>\n
stage manager shouting “one” and Fred appearing on screen, something incredible happens: a signal<\/p>\n
is seamlessly transmitted from midtown New York City to millions of television sets across the globe –<\/p>\n
NBCUniversal’s Operations and Technical Services (O&TS) team helps make it happen.<\/p>\n
The industry’s best-in-class technology and operations center, O&TS, supports NBCUniversal’s portfolio<\/p>\n
of broadcast, cable, and film businesses. O&TS includes domestic television production operations,<\/p>\n
Universal Studio operations, global technical operations, information technology, and media products &<\/p>\n
advanced technologies.<\/p>\n
The NBCUniversal Operations & Technical Services Internship Program is a ten-week paid summer<\/p>\n
program where students see firsthand how one of the largest media and entertainment companies in the<\/p>\n
As an intern with NBCUniversal O&TS, you will:<\/p>\n
Begin your internship with a 3-day immersion class that introduces you to O&TS.<\/p>\n
Be placed on an assignment (based on your skillset and interest), which provides you with hands-<\/p>\n
on experience.<\/p>\n
Lead a challenging real-world project from start to finish, allowing you to apply your classroom<\/p>\n
knowledge to practical situations.<\/p>\n
Create and deliver a presentation to senior management.<\/p>\n
Be paired with a leader in the organization as your mentor: coaching and guiding you in your<\/p>\n
professional learning and development.<\/p>\n
Gain the skills and network to have an advantage during the application process to entry-level<\/p>\n
positions within the O&TS organization after graduation.<\/p>\n
Internship opportunities are in the following areas:<\/p>\n
ArtWorks – Broadcast design support for NBC News, Sports, East Coast Entertainment, MSNBC, CNBC,
\nLocal Media stations and Telemundo stations<\/p>\n
Broadcast Operations – Preparation, origination and delivery of media assets across broadcast and
\ndigital platforms.<\/p>\n
Media Products & Advanced Technologies – Coordinates product strategy, development, design and
\ntechnical architecture for critical O&TS systems, as well as driving technology research and development
\nin business critical areas.<\/p>\n
Engineering – Broadcast On-Air Engineering: Innovates, integrates and supports the systems that enable
\nNBCUniversal\u2019s production and newsroom operations.<\/p>\n
SAP – With an increasing company reliance on the SAP systems, the SAP Center of Excellence utilizes
\ntechnical expertise to integrate and support the growing number of SAP modules used throughout the
\ncompany. As the usage of SAP grows, the company relies on SAP technologists to develop processes and
\nbuild and test the modules to meet the business needs.<\/p>\n
IT Operations Center – The technology backbone of NBCUniversal. Enhances business services, drives
\ntechnology innovation, preserves and enhances our core business.<\/p>\n
West Coast Operations – Studio technical operations, staging, maintenance, tape operations and
\narchival services. Special effects, scenic paint and set construction.<\/p>\n
Qualifications\/Requirements Basic Qualifications:
\n\u2022 Prior work experience required
\n\u2022 Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
\n\u2022 Must be able to secure housing and transportation
\nEligibility Requirements:
\n\u2022 Must be 18 years or older
\n\u2022 Currently enrolled in a Bachelor\u2019s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) program pursuing a related technical
\nor media field of study (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Media Technology,
\nCommunications Technology, Graphic Technology, Computer Engineering, Broadcast
\nEngineering)
\n\u2022 Must have a GPA greater than or equal to 3.0\/4.0 cumulatively
\n\u2022 Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
\n\u2022 Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
\n\u2022 External applicants are encouraged to submit a resume\/CV through
