WITNESS empowers people to transform personal stories of abuse into powerful tools for justice, promoting public engagement and policy change. Founded nearly 20 years ago by musician and activist, Peter Gabriel, WITNESS partners with NGOs, community groups, and grassroots organizations around the globe.<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.witness.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.witness.org<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Description:<\/div>\n<div>The Focus for Change Event intern will work closely with the External Relations Associate and WITNESS\u2019 event team to help produce WITNESS\u2019 8th annual Focus for Change benefit.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Tasks will include:<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Conducting research and helping with outreach to solicit in-kind and auction donations<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Assisting with coordinating of mass mailings and solicitations (i.e. outreach letters, invitations, thank you letters)<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Assisting with talent logistics (hotel, travel arrangements, etc.)<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Registering the event on New York City benefit and social calendars<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Drafting and preparing materials for Host Committee correspondence and other external communications<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Supporting the Event Team in preparing event signage and collecting content\/materials for the event\u2019s printed program<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Conducting research on benefit attendees<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Running errands and providing key administrative support as needed<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Working on-site during the event in the fall of 2012, including volunteer organization and door registration.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Qualifications:<\/div>\n<div>Potential interns are preferably graduate students or others with relevant experience. Undergraduates with relevant experience will be considered. We look for a focus in studies on development or communications with an interest in human rights and international relations Candidates should have:<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Outstanding oral and written communication skills<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Ability to work independently, as well as to multitask effectively<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 As celebrity talent and key donors are involved, must have professional air<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Event planning and previous non-profit experience preferred<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Familiarity with MS Office applications a must (especially Word and Excel)<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Ability to work in fast-paced environment and hectic circumstances<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Superb attention to detail<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Sense of humor and flexibility<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>General Information<\/div>\n<div>We require a minimum of three months commitment, for 16-20 hours a week. \u00a0Ideally, the Intern will serve in the Fall Semester as well. Fellowships are unpaid. \u00a0Our offices are located in Brooklyn, NY, convenient to the Atlantic Terminal (2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, Q, N and R trains) and C (Lafayette) and G (Fulton) trains.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Application Instructions:<\/div>\n<div>No phone inquiries please.
