WITNESS empowers people to transform personal stories of abuse into powerful tools for justice, promoting public engagement and policy change. Founded nearly 20 years ago by musician and activist, Peter Gabriel, WITNESS partners with NGO\u2019s, community groups, and grassroots organizations around the globe.<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.witness.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.witness.org<\/a>;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.witness.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">blog.witness.org<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Description<\/div>\n<div>Are you a(n) media\/activist who want to support global change? Are you interested in development and human rights? Or do you have a background supporting housing and land rights struggles? WITNESS is looking for a smart, savvy and dedicated intern to support its global campaign on forced evictions \u2013 with a particular focus in Cambodia, Egypt, Nigeria and India. Depending on the specific needs of the campaign, interns may be involved in a range of research, production support and outreach\/advocacy activities.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This semester, we\u2019re looking for the following super powers and special skills:<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Graphic designers, people with a love and knack for developing creative, effective, and powerful ways of visualizing complex advocacy information;<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Web\/blog designers who would be interested in devising and creating campaign-specific landing pages to link content and campaign-related actions alongside our partners;<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Social media strategists &amp; implementers&#8230; does creating an effective social media strategy for human rights campaigns sound like your cup of tweet?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Other tasks may include:<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Researching issues, contacts and background information on issues and campaigns<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Logging, transcribing and editing video clips<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Writing blogs on issues related to forced evictions<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Supporting distribution and outreach around a particular video advocacy campaign<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Participating in weekly staff meetings<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>All interns are expected to spend between 20-30% of their time engaged in administrative support.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Qualifications:<\/div>\n<div>You\u2019ll be happier if you have:<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 A particular interest in forced evictions as a human rights issue<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 A desire to support human rights activists in campaigns for changes in policies, practices, behaviors or laws<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We\u2019ll be happier if you\u2019re a team-player that\u2019s creative and has:<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Savvy social media skills, experience with online advocacy a plus<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Experience with Final Cut Pro or comparable video editing software<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Arabic, Chinese, Khmer language skills a plus<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Excellent writing skills, blogging experience a plus<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>General Information<\/div>\n<div>We require a minimum of two months commitment, for at least 15 hours a week.
