Fjord is all about an open collaborative approach and thinks it is the key enabler for us to\u00a0deliver innovative, groundbreaking work.<\/p>\n<p>The Fjord internship program is designed for students with an interest in digital and\/or service design;\u00a0specifically in visual and interaction design or human factors concentrations. \u00a0 Fjord\u2019s small project team\u00a0approach allows interns to obtain hand on experience led by our Service Design Leads (SDL).\u00a0 The SDL\u00a0role is unique to Fjord in that an SDL is responsible for not only the creative and strategic direction of a\u00a0project, but also for dayGtoGday client interaction, management of the internal team and, along with\u00a0project management, the successful completion of a project on time and on budget.\u00a0 In working with an\u00a0SDL, interns will be exposed to a wide variety of tasks over the lifetime of a project that are not just\u00a0related to their design field.<\/p>\n<p>Design and interaction interns will also support the larger design team by being involved on projects in\u00a0tangible ways.\u00a0 This may include providing strategic and creative input to inGprogress projects,\u00a0participating in brainstorming and concepting sessions and fulfilling specific projectGrelated design\u00a0deliverables.<\/p>\n<p>About Fjord:<\/p>\n<p>Headquartered in London, Fjord is a leading international digital design consultancy, structured around\u00a0innovation and pushing the boundaries of service and experience design. The work Fjord delivers\u00a0ranges from mobile services to Web, Interactive TV, and digital interfaces embedded in physical\u00a0environments.<\/p>\n<p>Internship requirements:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A demonstrated passion for digital or service design;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Undergraduate or Graduate level students or those who have less then 9 months of professional\u00a0experience in the design field;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of design programs (Illustrator, Photoshop,) and\/or\u00a0interaction design programs (Omnigraffle, Visio);<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Working knowledge of Flash, After Effects or other motion programs;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 US residents or those students with current student visa\u2019s only<\/p>\n<p>More specifics:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Location: Fjord New York and Fjord San Francisco<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Start Date: Flexible, starting in May, June or July<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 40 hours a week;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Duration: 6G8 Weeks; Minimum 6 week consecutive commitment required;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Travel and Meal Stipend: $200\/week<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Housing not provided<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Credit available if educational institution accepts and our program meets requirements.To Apply:<\/p>\n<p>Send the following to nyc.recruitment@fjordnet.com:<\/p>\n<p>1) CoverGletter indicating<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 your specific area of interest;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 the location to which you are applying (New York or San Francisco);<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 if you will be gaining college credit;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 and the date on which you are able to start and for how many weeks\u00a0 Please consider the\u00a0consecutive 6G8 week requirement when planning.<\/p>\n<p>2) Resume;<\/p>\n<p>3) Portfolio (online or as PDF).<\/p>\n<p>Structure:<\/p>\n<p>Over the eightGweek program, Fjord interns will have two primary goals<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Support on our client projects as directed by their Service Design Lead (SDL)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Develop their own Service Design related project with support and feedback from the Fjord\u00a0design team.<\/p>\n<p>Week 1:<\/p>\n<p>During the first week, interns will be paired with a Fjord Service Design Lead and given short non\u00a0project related tasks in order to assess their capability and skills such as their technical capabilities,\u00a0level of design knowGhow and the design field will focus on, which may or may not be the area they\u00a0came in expecting to find .<\/p>\n<p>They will also begin to define their own project that should focus on solving a service design related\u00a0challenge or interest that enriches their creative and professional development.\u00a0 In addition, at the end\u00a0of week one, the intern will be placed as a support role on a client project.<\/p>\n<p>Week 2:<\/p>\n<p>During the second week, interns will continue as guided on project related work while also refining\u00a0their own projects.\u00a0 At the end of week two, they will be asked to \u201cpitch\u201d their project to members of\u00a0the design team, who will give feedback on both the presentation and the project.<\/p>\n<p>Week 3:<\/p>\n<p>In week three, interns will finalize their project goals with their SDL and work with project\u00a0management to develop a project plan, defining what, if any additional resources are required in order\u00a0for them to execute their project.\u00a0 Concurrently, they\u2019ll work on specific client tasks under the\u00a0leadership of senior designers or the SDL.<\/p>\n<p>Week 4-7:<\/p>\n<p>Interns will continue to iterate on their personal projects while supporting client work as directed. \u00a0Weekly checkGins will be held with their SDL and the Service Design Director.<\/p>\n<p>Week 8:<\/p>\n<p>At the end of week 8, interns will give a final presentation of their project for the group as well as\u00a0finishing and handing off any remaining client related tasks. \u00a0 They\u2019ll also participate in an exit\u00a0interview, conducted by HR, for feedback on their experience in the program, what they feel was\u00a0successful and any suggestions for the future.\u00a0 In some cases interns who have completed their\u00a0education may be offered permanent positions with Fjord.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the program, interns will be able to participate in weekly company meetings, company\u00a0field trips and general employee enrichment, as would full time Fjord employees.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Visual Design and Interaction Design Internship Program Fjord New York and San Francisco Fjord is a design company with a growing footprint;
