Why not<br \/>\nuse the cellular network and relatively simple electronics to dramatically improve forecasts to alleviate human suffering?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.princeton.edu\/main\/news\/archive\/S32\/97\/79K89\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.princeton.edu\/main\/<wbr>news\/archive\/S32\/97\/79K89\/<\/wbr><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hydrology.princeton.edu\/monitor\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/hydrology.princeton.<wbr>edu\/monitor<\/wbr><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One position would be to refine the electronics for a microcontroller managing a GSM transceiver and multiple sensors<br \/>\nto work long-term at low power.
