CALL FOR PAPERS AND PERFORMANCES<\/p>\n

Live Interfaces is a conference on live, technology-mediated
\ninteraction in performance. \u00a0The conference seeks to investigate
\ncross-disciplinary understandings of performance technology with a
\nparticular focus on issues related to the notion of \u2018liveness\u2019 in
\ninteraction.<\/p>\n

Live Interfaces will consist of paper and poster presentations,
\nperformances and workshops over two days. \u00a0 Researchers, theorists and
\nartists from diverse fields are encouraged to participate, including:
\ndigital performance, live art, computer music, choreography, music
\npsychology, interaction design, human computer interaction, digital
\naesthetics, computer vision, smart materials and augmented stage
\ntechnology.<\/p>\n

We invite submissions addressing the conference theme of
\ntechnology-mediated live interaction \u00a0in performance, and suggest the
\nfollowing indicative topics:<\/p>\n

– Audience perception\/interaction
\n– Biophysical sensors
\n– Brain-computer interfaces
\n– Computer vision\/real-time video in performance
\n– Cross-modal perception\/illusion
\n– Digital dramaturgy\/choreography\/composition
\n– Digital performance phenomenology
\n– Gesture recognition and control
\n– Historical perspectives
\n– Live coding in music, video animation and\/or dance
\n– Participatory performance
\n– Performance technology aesthetics
\n– Redefining audience interaction
\n– Tangible interaction<\/p>\n

Paper submissions should be in extended abstract form, with a
\nsuggested length of 500 words. \u00a0Please format all submissions using
\neither the Word or LaTeX template available from the website.<\/p>\n

Performance proposals should include a description of the performance
\nand the live interaction technology used, as well as a list of
\ntechnical requirements. \u00a0Attaching recordings of past performances is
\nstrongly encouraged.<\/p>\n

We hope to announce a journal special issue on performance technology
\nfollowing the conference as a publication opportunity for extended
\npapers.<\/p>\n

Extended abstracts must be submitted electronically via the website by
\nmidnight (GMT+1) on the 17th June 2012. \u00a0All submissions will be
\nsubject to cross-disciplinary peer review, and notified of acceptance
\nby 1st July.<\/p>\n
