Digital Media Intern<\/div>\n
2\u20133 days per week \/\u00a0Small daily stipend available<\/div>\n
The Digital Media Intern reports to the Director of Digital Media and Strategy. Primary<\/div>\n
duties for the internship are to provide support for the organization’s new and ongoing<\/div>\n
initiatives on Web and Web-based social media platforms. Tasks include:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0a7 Assist with the recent relaunches of Art21’s primary websites:\u00a0art21.org<\/a>,<\/div>\n
pbs.org\/art21<\/a>, and\u00a0blog.art21.org<\/a><\/div>\n
\uf0a7 Administration of Art21’s presence on social media platforms, including Facebook,<\/div>\n
Twitter, YouTube, and others<\/div>\n
\uf0a7 Maintain the presentation of online video across multiple platforms<\/div>\n
\uf0a7 General assistance with the digital media initiatives supporting the online film<\/div>\n
series, New York Close Up, as well as the PBS-broadcast series, Art in the Twenty-<\/div>\n
First Century<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
All applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills, general<\/div>\n
research and office skills, be detail-oriented, and possess an interest in contemporary<\/div>\n
art and\/or film and television. Additional qualifications include:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0a7 Experience and confidence using Web-based technologies<\/div>\n
\uf0a7 Extensive experience using social Web platforms such as Facebook, Twitter,<\/div>\n
YouTube, Vimeo, Foursquare, and Tumblr<\/div>\n
\uf0a7 Familiarity with basic Web development concepts; experience with Drupal and\/or<\/div>\n
development in an Apache\/MySQL\/PHP environment a plus<\/div>\n
\uf0a7 Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications including Photoshop,<\/div>\n
Illustrator, and InDesign<\/div>\n
\uf0a7 Experience with WordPress and general understanding of blogging<\/div>\n
\uf0a7 Ability to think creatively and implement new ideas and strategies<\/div>\n
\uf0a7 Motivated, responsible, and self-directed individual with strong communication and<\/div>\n
organizational abilities<\/div>\n

Art21 is a non-profit organization that illuminates the creative process of today’s visual<\/div>\n
artists through the production of documentary films, interpretive media, and live<\/div>\n
programs that stimulate critical reflection as well as conversation. Art21 offers an<\/div>\n
independent, “behind-the-scenes” point of view on contemporary art and artists,<\/div>\n
producing historically relevant, primary source materials of the highest quality,<\/div>\n
exemplified by the Peabody Award-winning documentary series Art in the Twenty-First<\/div>\n
Century and the Peabody Award-winning feature, William Kentridge: Anything Is<\/div>\n
Possible. Based in New York City but with a global reach on television and online,<\/div>\n
Art21’s additional projects include: workshops for teachers and art educators; public<\/div>\n
screenings and lectures; a blog and social media initiatives. Art21 recently premiered<\/div>\n
the sixth season of Art in the Twenty-First Century in Spring 2012.<\/div>\n
Though Art21 is a high-profile project, we have a small staff and a friendly working<\/div>\n
environment. Interns are an important part of our office community, and actively<\/div>\n
contribute to our various projects. Interns at Art21 are given exposure to all aspects of<\/div>\n
the organization through regular contact with Art21 staff members and other interns.<\/div>\n
Art21 internships provide a unique opportunity to learn about contemporary art,<\/div>\n
documentary video production, educational and public programs, and other related<\/div>\n
initiatives. In some cases, Art21 can arrange academic credit in addition to offering a<\/div>\n
small stipend.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
