TEI 2013 is the Seventh International Conference on Tangible, Embedded,
\nand Embodied interaction. The work presented at TEI focuses on physical
\ninteraction with computing technology and addresses design challenges,
\ntheories, experiences, systems, and new developments. The intimate size
\nof this single-track conference provides a unique forum for exchanging
\nideas and presenting innovative work through talks, interactive
\nexhibits, demos, hands-on studios, posters, art installations and
\nperformances.<\/p>\n

This year TEI will be held in beautiful Barcelona, one of the world’s
\nleading cities for tourism, gastronomy, commerce, education,
\nentertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts.<\/p>\n

Research on tangible, embodied and embedded interaction has gained
\nsubstantial visibility and activity over the past decade, under many
\ndifferent names and research topics and disciplines, including tangible
\ninterfaces, graspable interfaces, physical computing, tangible
\ninteraction, IT product design, appliance design and interactive spaces.
\nIt has also been associated with larger research areas, including mixed,
\nvirtual, and augmented reality and ubiquitous and pervasive computing.
\nTEI brings together this emerging field, providing a meeting ground for
\nthe diverse communities of research and practice – from computing,
\nhardware, and sensor technology, to HCI, interaction design and CSCW, to
\nproduct and industrial design and interactive arts. We invite
\nsubmissions from all of these perspectives: theoretical, conceptual,
\ntechnical, applied, or artistic. The conference is designed to provide
\nappropriate presentation forms for different types of contributions.<\/p>\n

Accepted submissions of all types will be included in the Proceedings as
\npapers and will be integrated within the single-track conference.
\nInterdisciplinary submissions are particularly welcome.<\/p>\n

PARTICIPATION<\/p>\n

STUDIOS
\nTEI 2013 also invites proposals for studios to be held in multiple
\ntracks on Sunday, February 10th, 2013. Studios are likely to focus on
\nhand-on activities that offer new approaches and unexpected experiences
\nto conference attendees, merging design, arts, tradition and emerging
\ntechnologies. Open toanyone who has registered for the conference, each
\nStudio will accommodatearound 15 participants and additional fees might
\nbe required. Each Studio will be represented by a 4-page extended
\nabstract that will be included in the Proceedings and published in the
\nACM Digital Library. Organizers are also encouraged to arrange for later
\npublications of a studio’s creative output.<\/p>\n

STUDENT DESIGN CHALLENGE: Celebration!
\nGet the party started at TEI – Design a fun game or performance that
\ncelebrates tangibility.
\nBuild a new toy, instrument or prop and how to use it in a game, song or
\ndance. How might the stories of tangible, embedded and enactive
\ntechnologies be passed on to the next generation?<\/p>\n

ARTS TRACK
\nThe Arts Track at TEI 2013 aims to attract interactive artworks
\nexploring digital, virtual and physical connections. The work should be
\nevocative, thought provoking and content rich. Artworks can range from
\nDigital interactive installations to all sorts of tangible, embedded and
\nembodied experiments.
\nOur Arts Track welcomes work from a wide range of practitioners in areas
\nsuch as interaction design, engineering, research or art, including
\nsubmissions from students and independent practitioners.<\/p>\n

GRADUATE STUDENT CONSORTIUM
\nThe Graduate Student Consortium (GSC) is a one-day forum in which
\ngraduate students can meet and discuss their work with each other and
\nwith a panel of experienced TEI researchers in an informal and
\ninteractive setting. The GSC will be held on Sunday February 10th, 2012,
\nthe day preceding the main conference, and includes lunch and dinner.
\nStudents give short presentationsabout their work during the consortium,
\nand also present their work as posters during the main conference.<\/p>\n
