Bruell, Inc; Instructional Designer, Programmer, UX Designer, Graphic Designer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Phase II of Stop, Look and Listen (SLL): Separating Fact from Fiction in Evaluating Cases of Child Abuse:\u00a0an Interactive Learning Tool for Pediatricians<\/p>\n<p>L.A. Bruell, Inc. is looking for four talented, motivated, and experienced team members to join us on\u00a0our new project, Stop, Look, and Listen: one instructional designer, one user experience designer, one\u00a0programmer with experience in both front and back end development, and one graphic designer with\u00a0experience working in the design of educational online modules. These team members would work with\u00a0our company as independent contractors.<\/p>\n<p>Stop, Look, and Listen (SLL) is a web-based educational tool for pediatricians to help them better\u00a0recognize and accurately report cases of child injury which they suspect were caused by physical abuse.\u00a0It is a virtual environment for them to practice their skills in eliciting a trauma history through modeling of\u00a0effective communication. It also focuses on what factors to weigh in deciding whether to report a family\u00a0to child protective services. Each of the six clinical vignettes will be developed by a panel of experts and\u00a0modeled on real cases that pediatricians encounter in their office.<\/p>\n<p>SLL will be developed as a universally accessible Web application, most likely in Flash or HTML5. Using\u00a0the principles of instructional design and drawing on the developer&#8217;s broad experience creating interactive\u00a0projects for the medical community, SLL will create narrative vignettes to guide users through the many\u00a0potential paths involved in diagnosing and reporting potential cases of child abuse. Each vignette will\u00a0showcase some of the options a pediatrician could take in handling a specific case, as well as following\u00a0up on these options to demonstrate their potential outcomes. We plan to shoot actual scenes in a\u00a0pediatric clinic and child protection services office to add to the virtual locations we create for home visits,\u00a0the courts and other venues. The sequences will be composited in After Effects. Actors will be cast for\u00a0the parents, children, child welfare workers and lawyers. Pediatricians will be recruited to participate as\u00a0well.<\/p>\n<p>This project was funded with a grant from the National Institutes of Health Small Business Innovation\u00a0Research program.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for a small, creative and collaborative team to work with us over the two-year grant cycle.\u00a0Specifically, we are looking for independent contractors in the following areas:<\/p>\n<p>The Instructional Designer will take the lead in integrating adult learning theory into the content for Stop\u00a0Look and Listen. S\/he will be responsible for placing learning objectives into a pedagogical framework &#8211;\u00a0designing and placing self-assessment quizzes and other didactic tools for integration within the project,\u00a0and ensuring that the learning objectives determined by the primary investigators are fulfilled.<\/p>\n<p>The User Experience\/Interactive Designer will be responsible for the overall structural design and\u00a0interface for the tool. S\/he will determine the overall look and feel of the intervention, ensuring that it\u00a0is easily navigable and user-friendly. S\/he will work closely with the graphic designer to design and\u00a0orchestrate the production of interactive eLearning portals for the project, and will work closely with the\u00a0web programmer to create an integrated look for the web portal that will expand and repurpose the design\u00a0that was developed for the prototype tool (Phase 1 of the grant).<\/p>\n<p>The Developer will work with the interactive designer to develop both the underlying program architecture\u00a0of the tool and the forward-facing user interface for the case scenarios and other related resources\u00a0(i.e. quizzes, decision points, and interactive charts). S\/he should be fluent in the authoring and\u00a0implementation of Flash and HTML 5 web applications, as well as conversant with the management of\u00a0MySQL databases for collecting user responses. Since the prototype was developed in Lingo, familiarity\u00a0with this language is a plus in order to facilitate the migration of the previous prototypes into Flash.<\/p>\n<p>The Graphic Artist will be responsible for producing the visual sections of the production, including but\u00a0not limited to backgrounds, fonts, photo editing, creation of screenshots, text annotation, and other visual\u00a0design elements.
