No phone calls or 3rd party recruiters please.<\/p>\n<h2>Robot Interaction and User Experience Co-op<\/h2>\n<p>The RI-UX Co-Op will explore the question: What is the \u201cdesktop metaphor\u201d for teaching a robot arm that can work alongside people? Robot arms that can safely sense and react to physical contact with a person, and the ubiquity of\u00a0<a title=\"Shopping link added by SkimWords\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s\/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&amp;field-keywords=touch%20screen%20tablets\" target=\"_blank\" data-skimwords-id=\"1667897\" data-skimwords-word=\"touch%20screen%20tablets\" data-group-id=\"0\" data-skim-creative=\"10203\" data-skim-product=\"0\">touch screen tablets<\/a>, enable new opportunities to teach robots. The RI-UX Co-Op will work with our product team to develop a robot interaction metaphor, analogous to the desktop metaphor for the PC, that enables rapid and intuitive instruction of robots. The RI-UX Co-Op will prototype mechanical interfaces, storyboard user experiences, breadboard tablet UIs, and conduct user studies with our prototype arm. This a Co-Op position with the potential for full-time hire after six months.<\/p>\n<h3>Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand, articulate and improve on the interaction model<\/li>\n<li>Setup and conduct user testing and experiments to validate user experience hypotheses<\/li>\n<li>Create mechanical prototypes of product features that support physical human-robot interaction<\/li>\n<li>Create wireframe designs of tablet based UIs<\/li>\n<li>Create a UI\/UX specification for the next phase of product development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Experience<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>BS or above in Industrial Design or related discipline<\/li>\n<li>Excellent ability to sketch ideas and storyboards<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated very strong design and aesthetic sense<\/li>\n<li>Rhino, Solidworks, and\/or other 3D surfacing tools<\/li>\n<li>Experience with various forms of digital fabrication<\/li>\n<li>Experience with UI design tools a plus<\/li>\n<li>Experience with robotics a plus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>http:\/\/redwoodrobotics.com\/jobs\/ Please contact us with your resume, CV, and\/or portfolio: jobs at redwoodrobotics.com .
