Roadify Data Administrator<\/b><\/p>\n

Roadify, winner of the 2011 NYC BigApps Grand Prize, is looking for someone with a passion for transit data to help maintain its database of real-time and scheduled mass transit information. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to get part-time experience with both a highly acclaimed mobile application and a data platform that serves multiple distribution channels.\u00a0 It\u2019s a foot in the door at a growing company with bright prospects in the exciting Smart Cities space helping to satisfy a daily chronic need for millions of urban travelers.\u00a0 We\u2019re looking to get someone started for just a few hours a week, potentially scaling up over time. Although it isn\u2019t necessary for the successful applicant to be located in New York City, where we are headquartered (the job can be done remotely), an added benefit is the opportunity to inspect the Roadify transit displays following events at venues including Brooklyn\u2019s Barclay\u2019s Center, new home of the Brooklyn Nets and where many major artists have performed or will be including the Rolling Stones, JayZ, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and others.<\/p>\n

Primary duties<\/b>:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Monitor transit agency data updates and upload new data into the Roadify database in order to ensure timeliness and integrity of data.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Load data from new markets and agencies, and perform QA to \u201cclean-up\u201d anomalies and reconcile data issues with Roadify platform and app reporting requirements<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Create workflow processes to ensure that updates are properly scheduled and not missed<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Create workflow processes to periodically spot-check reported schedules and arrivals in order to maintain high quality of service and identify issues before customers and end users find them<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Establish direct relationships with transit agencies in order to trouble-shoot and solve data problem. Work with agencies to encourage best practices that facilitate more efficient Roadify data operations<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keep abreast of issues in the GTFS data community by monitoring and participating in developer discussion groups<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Raise issues to Roadify team regarding data issues and GTFS community trends to keep Roadify current and identify areas for improvement<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Represent and advocate for Roadify interests in data community around important issues<\/p>\n

9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Support tech management to troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions with databases, servers, operating platform\/database interfaces, and networked systems<\/p>\n

10.\u00a0\u00a0 Provide support around metrics and analytics for Roadify utilization<\/p>\n

11.\u00a0\u00a0 Make recommendations for automated improvements to data structure and operational processes.<\/p>\n

Desired Qualifications:<\/b><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Experience with relational database (MySQL or similar); ability to write SQL queries desired<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Comfortable with Microsoft Excel (optional: pivot tables)<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Experience working with large data sets;\u00a0 knowledge of GTFS transit data format a plus<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Experience managing real-time and static data systems, including systems with multiple data suppliers and updating processes<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Understanding and interest in transit schedules, operations and related technologies such as real-time asset management<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0High level of initiative- self-starter who thrives in a fluid environment without needing a lot of direct supervision<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ability to clearly lay out options and alternatives with factual back-up<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Familiarity with New York City mass transit services<\/p>\n

9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Has an iPhone or iPad (to be able to use Roadify mobile app- we\u2019re not yet on Android)<\/p>\n

10.\u00a0Clear communicator with ability to respond quickly via email, etc. when necessary<\/p>\n

11.\u00a0Strong oral and written communication skills-both face-to-face and over the phone<\/p>\n
