Artful.ly, an arts organization management platform, is seeking an experienced software engineer to design new features, improve our application, and make our users happy.<\/p>\n

You love the feature development cycle because, at Artful.ly, you’re going to be involved in every part of it.\u00a0 From white boarding to wireframes to code to delivery, you’re going to be tasked with lots of different things.\u00a0 New technology excites you, even if the immediate benefits aren’t apparent.<\/p>\n
ABOUT ARTFUL.LY<\/p>\n
Artful.ly provides arts administrators with tools to help run their organizations.\u00a0 We help theaters fill the house.\u00a0 We help organizations sell out their fundraising gala and make sure everyone is at the right seat with the right table.\u00a0 We make it easy to see when a donor last contributed to your organization.<\/p>\n
We build these tools using a blend of Ruby on Rails, jQuery, Haml, Sass, Solr, MySQL, MongoDB, and Twitter Bootstrap.\u00a0 We’re always diving in to new technology to see how it can help make our applications better.\u00a0 If you have some tech that you’re really excited about then we’ll find a way to use it and improve the product.\u00a0 Some things we would love to see make an appearance in our applications are CoffeeScript, javascript frameworks such as Knockout or Backbone, and data storage alternatives like Redis.<\/p>\n

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n
1. Strong command of Ruby and Ruby on Rails<\/p>\n
2. Experience with Rails Engines, Rspec, Cucumber, and Git<\/p>\n
3. Understanding of good usability and what makes users go crazy<\/p>\n
4. Ability to read a support ticket that makes no sense at all and translate that into a deployed bug fix<\/p>\n
and a satisfied user.<\/p>\n

x Familiarity with Amazon EC2, Heroku, and New Relic<\/p>\n
TELECOMMUTING<\/p>\n
We want to hire the best candidate, regardless of location, so telecommuting is an option. All things being equal, though, weWd ideally love to have someone who can join us in our NYC office.
