We create, deploy, and\u00a0study novel technologies, such as individual devices, collections of\u00a0wearable devices, on-body interaction techniques and applications, and\u00a0full experienc- es integrating and incorporating all the above.<\/p>\n<p>About You<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019d like to be an intern with us in Summer\/Fall 2013<\/p>\n<p>Pursuing a Ph.D. in HCI, CS, EE, ME, ID, or related areas<\/p>\n<p>Deeply interested in developing new interfaces and applications for mobile,\u00a0wearable, tangible, and\/or ubiquitous computing<\/p>\n<p>Have a desire to deploy and evaluate new technologies in everyday life<\/p>\n<p>Have experience in imagining, prototyping, and evaluating new ways for people\u00a0to use technology<\/p>\n<p>Interested in projects involving the deployment of wearable and deployable sensors and actuators, creating interaction techniques for novel wearable\u00a0displays, or the application of augmented reality techniques to new\u00a0devices.<\/p>\n<p>About Us<\/p>\n<p>At Nokia, we perform a wide range of research in the areas of wearable\u00a0and physical af- fordances; new forms of user interface and\u00a0interaction; innovative use of sensors and ac- tuators; mobile\u00a0augmented reality experiences; and new applications and systems. Our\u00a0goal is to help transform Nokia into a leading company not just in\u00a0mobile phones but al- so in the next generation of mobile technologies\u00a0in general.<\/p>\n<p>Nokia &#8211; Silicon Valley is located in the beautiful city of Sunnyvale,\u00a0CA. Our office is a two- minute walk from downtown Sunnyvale, filled\u00a0with restaurants, bars, and specialty shops. Public transportation\u00a0(Caltrain) is also a two-minute walk from our building. The city is\u00a0less than an hour from the Pacific Ocean, and close to California\u2019s\u00a0famous redwood forests and beautiful Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada\u00a0for summer exploring and winter skiing.
