{"id":13126,"date":"2013-02-12T16:19:21","date_gmt":"2013-02-12T20:19:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/?p=13126"},"modified":"2013-02-12T16:19:21","modified_gmt":"2013-02-12T20:19:21","slug":"job-technology-program-manager-the-garfield-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/2013\/02\/12\/job-technology-program-manager-the-garfield-center\/","title":{"rendered":"[JOB] Technology Program Manager, The Garfield Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Technology Program Manager (Job Number 169269)<\/p>\n<p>Description<\/p>\n<p>The Garfield Center is a truly unique place where the people of Kaiser<br \/>\nPermanente are inspired to envision the future of health care and then are<br \/>\nempowered to create it.\u00a0 Located in a converted warehouse, the Garfield Center<br \/>\nhas Hollywood style &#8220;movie sets&#8221; that are mocked up inpatient, outpatient and<br \/>\nhome environments.<\/p>\n<p>A diverse group of innovators move throughout the innovation lifecycle at the<br \/>\nGarfield Center.\u00a0 These innovators begin with inspiration, then move into<br \/>\nideation and prototyping, and end the process with deployment and spread.\u00a0 \u00a0This<br \/>\nunique work may involve support of teams who are developing technology<br \/>\nprototypes, conducting product testing, evaluating constructability, testing how<br \/>\nclinical devices interact with clinical workflows, or performing clinical<br \/>\nsystems integration, operationalization and deployment.\u00a0 The Garfield Center has<br \/>\nbeen extremely successful at providing a &#8220;sandbox&#8221; that enables innovation<br \/>\nprojects to ask and answer &#8220;what-if&#8221; questions related to the use of clinical<br \/>\nsystems and devices.\u00a0 Because of its success, the Garfield Center now requires a<br \/>\nprogram manager to ensure innovators and their projects are scheduled, supported<br \/>\nand integrated into the Garfield Center environment.<\/p>\n<p>The new technology program manager role is intended to manage the technology<br \/>\ninfrastructure that enables multiple innovators to access the Garfield Center<br \/>\nand to implement new program management and governance processes to manage<br \/>\nmultiple, complex innovation projects.\u00a0 We&#8217;re looking for a unique individual<br \/>\nwho can bring a strong background in program management, who can prioritize and<br \/>\ncoordinate innovation projects within a flexible innovation governance<br \/>\nstructure.<\/p>\n<p>The ideal candidate has a high level understanding of technology (application<br \/>\ndevelopment, testing, integration, mobile, cloud technology, network etc.) and<br \/>\nthe right combination of discipline and flexibility.\u00a0 This ideal candidate will<br \/>\nhave the ability to realize and accept shifting day-to-day tasks while holding<br \/>\ntrue to the long-term innovation goals and initiatives of the center.\u00a0 The<br \/>\nTechnology Program Manager will take a leading role in improving the Garfield<br \/>\nCenter&#8217;s reputation as a world-renowned center of excellence for innovation.<\/p>\n<p>This role has a dual reporting relationship to Innovation Labs Director, and the<br \/>\nGarfield Center Director.\u00a0 The role is physically located within the Garfield<br \/>\nCenter and is a member of the core operations team. This role is a Temporary<br \/>\nFull-Time position with a two-year duration.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>Program Management:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement an intake process for innovation projects with a\u00a0technology component. Includes creating\/implementing: assessment criteria,\u00a0processes for prioritizing and sequencing work, providing recommendations to\u00a0governance group when escalated for decision-making.\u00a0 In partnership with\u00a0innovation clients, help to scope and shape projects, identify metrics for\u00a0collection and ensure that results are communicated.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a quarterly pipeline forecast of projects among Garfield Center super\u00a0users (Care Delivery BIO, National Facilities Services BIO, Biomedical Device\u00a0Integration Council, Innovation &amp; Advanced Technology)<\/li>\n<li>Manage all aspects of the Garfield Center technology and infrastructure,\u00a0including innovation network, hospital network and production network.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee work of IT engineers that manage networking, telephony, etc. to\u00a0support the common platform test equipment installed at the Garfield Center.<\/li>\n<li>Upgrades, maintenance, day-to-day functionality, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Partner and liaison with other IT Departments such as network engineering,\u00a0clinical technology for biomedical device, KP IT Field Services for desktop\u00a0support, Infrastructure Management Group (storage, cloud,\u00a0 networking etc),\u00a0security, telephony, etc<\/li>\n<li>Manage\/police TER and other areas, create policies for change management, plan\u00a0of record documentation, construction, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee integration of vendor owned systems (loan and temporary use programs)\u00a0into the center.<\/li>\n<li>Actively participates in the Garfield Center construction (capital ,\u00a0non-capital\u00a0 and\u00a0 minor work projects), process, arbitrating needs of various\u00a0internal groups and balancing conflicting needs and priorities.<\/li>\n<li>Accountability to ensure facility plan of record is update<\/li>\n<li>Other special projects as requested (metrics, mobile, video\/teleconferencing\u00a0with google+walkabout, ipad deployment for surveys, GC technology projects such\u00a0as inventory tracking, etc., depending on skillset)<\/li>\n<li>Leads tours of Garfield Center (a requirement for Garfield Center based\u00a0employees)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Qualifications<\/p>\n<p>Minimum Qualifications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in a related field and\/or 4 years of equivalent work\u00a0experience.<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of 8 years of Program\/Project Management experience.<\/li>\n<li>Extensive and broad technical knowledge.<\/li>\n<li>Experience, and comfort working with and engaging colleagues and professionals\u00a0across all aspects of business including, but not limited to: IT professionals,\u00a0clinicians, operations, facilities managers, external vendors, executive\u00a0leadership and media professionals<\/li>\n<li>People skills &#8211; arbitrating multiple needs, &#8220;management by influence.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Creative problem-solving &#8211; thoughtful navigation of work never before\u00a0attempted within KP.<\/li>\n<li>Perseverance &#8211; ability to push toward solutions when none are obvious.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preferred Qualifications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least 5 years of portfolio \/ program and project management experience\u00a0preferably in a healthcare environment.<\/li>\n<li>Technical experience should include understanding agile development,\u00a0application and system testing, device integration, networking, cloud\u00a0technology, virtualization.<\/li>\n<li>Comfort in new role that has not previously existed, creating processes and\u00a0prototyping\/adjusting in real time.<\/li>\n<li>Creativity, curiosity and desire to learn.<\/li>\n<li>Sense of humor a must.
