For more than 92 years, the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation (ACLU), has been at the forefront of virtually every major battle for civil liberties and equal justice in this country.\u00a0 Principled and nonpartisan, the ACLU has offices in all 50 states, Washington, DC and Puerto Rico, and brings together the country\u2019s largest team of public interest lawyers, lobbyists, communication strategists, and members and activists in the advancement of equality, fairness, and freedom, especially for the most vulnerable in our society.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Communications Department is responsible for promoting the ACLU\u2019s mission, its brand and its programs through the media, multi-faceted campaigns, digital communications, publications and events. The Communications Department\u2019s\u00a0Digital\/Multimedia Communications program<\/b>\u00a0seeks graphic design and multimedia interns for the fall of 2013.<\/p>\n

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The Graphic Design Internship offers the opportunity to experience the breadth of the ACLU\u2019s work and to interact with staff from different programs on a range of projects. Interns can expect to work on a variety of branding and key issue projects including the production of printed materials for a variety of purposes as well as graphics for the ACLU web site(s), multimedia and social media channels.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Fall Digital Communications Design Internship is part-time and requires a time commitment of 12-16 hours per week.\u00a0 Because this is an unpaid internship, students are highly encouraged to seek outside funding.\u00a0 Arrangements may also be made with the student’s school for a work\/study stipend or course credit.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Under the supervision of Director of Digital Communications, interns will gain experience by working on:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Website design.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Social media promotional design.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Multimedia design support and production.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Creative process coordination.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Digital design and\/or print experience.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry standard design programs.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Final Cut and Illustrator.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Commitment to civil liberties.<\/p>\n
