We are looking for a Web developer with Ruby and JavaScript skills who will develop highly interactive Ajax-based web applications and web-based data visualization components as part of a project to build a system to allow journalists to monitor election returns, exit polls, and support news reporting on election night.<\/p>\n
The web developer will be a key member of our application development team.<\/p>\n
You will be responsible for implementing agile user stories as software and HTML templates with complete unit tests, suggesting solutions to user interface requirements, writing source code documentation, finding and correcting software errors, writing design and technical documents, configuring web servers and deploying software.<\/p>\n
–\u00a0 Excellent Ruby development skills (including 1.9 versions)<\/p>\n
–\u00a0 Ruby on Rails 3 (Sinatra and HAML \/ SASS experience also desirable)<\/p>\n
–\u00a0 Contemporary HTML, CSS, XML, and JSON<\/p>\n
– Excellent JavaScript skills, including jQuery and Backbone libraries<\/p>\n
–\u00a0 RESTful Web Service concepts<\/p>\n
–\u00a0 Object-Oriented design concepts applied to web application architecture<\/p>\n
–\u00a0 TCP and HTTP networking concepts<\/p>\n
–\u00a0 Common Linux commands and basic server configuration<\/p>\n
–\u00a0 Agile Methods and unit testing<\/p>\n

This is a 6-month contract position with an option to extend.<\/p>\n
