We will be opening the first in 2014 \u2013 Your Brain \u2013 which is currently in fabrication and final media development. With this new exhibition we have gone far beyond the old push button or click here interactives and now really \u00a0look to create engaging media components that transform the physical space. A creative media developer is now an essential team member on every exhibit project moving forward. And with the museum scheduled to continue opening exhibits (sport in 2015, \u00a0astronomy in 2016\u00a0)\u00a0that are both developed and designed in-house, with a we know we need to fill this position as soon as possible with a talented individual.<\/p>\n<p>Job Description: \u00a0Digital Media Developer<\/p>\n<p>April 2013<\/p>\n<p>Department: Design<\/p>\n<p>Position Summary<\/p>\n<p>The Digital Media Developer will utilize their creative programming skills that integrate audio, video, motion, with user\u00a0interface design to create unique visitor experiences that translate into the physical space. He\/she will conceive,\u00a0program and design interactive media experiences for science museum exhibits and special projects. He\/she will\u00a0work closely with a team of scientists and the design team to brainstorm, storyboard, program and\/or customize\u00a0software to prototype interactive experiences for testing and evaluation. The digital media developer will use all\u00a0mediums of interactive digital media, including software, hardware, and web-based platforms, and is expected to\u00a0understand and adopt new technologies as they become available. He\/she will work closely with technical and\u00a0exhibit designers to integrate technology into physical spaces. He\/she will serve as a member of the core team for\u00a0the development and design of capital campaign exhibit projects and creative services projects as assigned.<\/p>\n<p>Essential Job Functions<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in brainstorming sessions, developing storyboards and sketches to clearly communicate ideas.<\/li>\n<li>Program and customize software to build interactive media experiences.<\/li>\n<li>Work with outside media producers to ensure final production meets design standards<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with content developers to communicate science content.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with graphic designers to integrate graphic interface within digital media experiences.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain an organized and professional workshop, keeping inventory of all computers and hardware<\/li>\n<li>Research technologies and equipment necessary to implement final designs within exhibits.<\/li>\n<li>Provide prototype documentation (including source code, screen shots, digital assets, photos and video) for both\u00a0internal use and delivery to external media producers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Job Requirements<\/p>\n<p>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree with 1-4 years experience developing media. Ability to quickly learn new programming languages\u00a0and techniques. Student and\/or professional experience in interactive software development with a focus on\u00a0incorporating audio, video, and digital electronics.
