Selected artists will be invited to spend 4 months living on the NUS campus,\u00a0engaging with students, faculty and researchers as they conduct projects exploring and making connections between art and science.<\/p>\n<p>The Art\/Science Residency is made possible with the support of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marinabaysands.com\/singapore-museum\/\">Marina Bay Sands ArtScience Museum<\/a>,\u00a0and the National University of Singapore\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tembusu.nus.edu.sg\/index.php\">Tembusu College<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Themes<\/strong>\u00a0for 2013 Art\/Science Residency program are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Climate Change and Environmental Futures<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Projects may involve risk and apprehension of uncertainty, disasters, water, energy, oceanic dead zones, sustainability enterprise, or human ecological or material interactions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Contemporary Asian and Future Cities<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Projects may engage with scientific endeavors in architecture, digital fabrication, housing, transportation, density and land-use, collaborative design, or visualisation of urban processes.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Research Host<\/strong>\u00a0for the both residencies will be modules within the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.futurecities.ethz.ch\/\">Singapore-ETH Centre\u2019s Future Cities Laboratory<\/a>\u00a0(FCL). Project proposals are expected to have strong synergies with specific FCL module themes, research, and resources.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Residential Host<\/strong>\u00a0for both residencies will be\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tembusu.nus.edu.sg\/index.php\">Tembusu College<\/a>. The themes have been chosen to coincide with two Senior Seminars within the college to provide students with opportunities for coordinating projects with artistic work carried out during the residencies. Project proposals should indicate strong potential for engagement with students.<\/p>\n<p>Final Events (in a form appropriate for the specific projects) will be presented at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marinabaysands.com\/singapore-museum\/\"><strong>Marina Bay Sands ArtScience Museum<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Selection \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Proposals will be evaluated by the ASR Review Committee comprised of NUS science and arts faculty and an international advisory team of artists and scientists. Final selections will be coordinated with the Research and Residential Hosts in conjunction with the Marina Bay Sands ArtScience Museum. \u00a0Projects will be evaluated based upon:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>artistic merit,<\/li>\n<li>potential to engage audience,\u00a0 participants,\u00a0 researchers,\u00a0 faculty,\u00a0 and community in the project through seminars,\u00a0 development,\u00a0 or realization of the work.<\/li>\n<li>relevance to FCL research and available resources,<\/li>\n<li>potential to involve students,<\/li>\n<li>thematic relevance,<\/li>\n<li>connection to SE Asian region,<\/li>\n<li>budget, and<\/li>\n<li>feasibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Time Period &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Two four-month residencies are available for the following specific dates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>August 1 \u2013 November 30,\u00a0 2013<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Funding Support \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Resident Artists will be provided with NUS campus housing and board,\u00a0 SD$3000\/month artist fee,\u00a0 travel to and from Singapore, and are eligible to receive funding for materials and resources up to SD$4000.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Proposals \u2013\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/anclab.org\/downloads\/ASR2013\/ASRApplication.doc\">Application forms can be downloaded from the website<\/a>,\u00a0and should be submitted by email (address on application form).\u00a0<strong>Deadline June 2nd,\u00a02013.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Expectations Management:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Student involvement<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 Residency projects will be coordinated with two Senior Seminars at Tembusu College but the form of student involvements will be based on the artists\u2019 proposal.<\/p>\n<p><em>Research Lab Involvement<\/em>: Research Directors relevant to the Themes have agreed to facilitate engagement with their labs.
