This paid, 8-week fellowship will serve two roles:<\/div>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wikipedian-in-Residence for member institutions in the METRO consortium<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Facilitator for institutions interested in pursuing broader open data initiatives<\/p>\n<p>METRO is a non-profit consortium of over 250 libraries, archives, museums, cultural heritage institutions, and non-profits in New York City. The fellowship position will also collaborate with OpenGLAM, OKF, and Wikimedia NYC as part of their work.<\/p>\n<p>Position Details:<\/p>\n<p>Wikipedian-in-Residence role:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assist METRO membership in their understanding and use of Wikipedia<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide training and guidance on Wikipedia\/Wikimedia use and WikiProjects<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assist membership with releasing collection content into Wikimedia (or other) Commons<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Organize and host at least one Wikimedia-related special event or workshop<\/p>\n<p>Open Data role:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assist membership with open data initiatives, including tools, platforms, and licensing<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Develop guides and manuals for data export, management, public release<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Contribute to an emerging multi-institutional linked open data project as needed<\/p>\n<p>Fellow is expected to document their experience through METRO, OpenGLAM, GLAM-Wiki, or other community channels.<\/p>\n<p>Position Requirements:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Must have experience creating or editing Wikipedia content, contributing to Wikimedia (or other) Commons, and\/or using other open data platforms<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Student (graduate or undergrad) preferred, but any qualified candidates will be considered<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Experience working in GLAMs or other cultural heritage institutions is preferred<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Some experience in user training or creating instructional resources is preferred<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Must be a US citizen<\/p>\n<p>About the Position:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stipend: $5000 for a full-time, 8-week term working a 35-hour week<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Position Term: 8 weeks, start and end date flexible, but primarily during summer<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Located: At METRO (57 E. 11th St. NYC); some possible work at member organizations (within New York City\u2019s five boroughs and Westchester county)<\/p>\n<p>How to Apply:<br \/>\nSubmit a cover letter (including your Wikipedia experience, username, and other skills you bring to the position) along with your resume and two references along with their contact information.
