Professional Applications Design Intern – Job Description<\/p>\n
Apple’s Pro Apps Design Group is seeking a passionate and highly creative intern who understands
\nfilm and video post-production as well as the complexity of software product design.
\nThis person must posses a relentless attention to detail, a gifted eye for aesthetics, and
\nthe ability to quickly grasp and distill highly complex matters.
\nThe intern will work closely with all designers, producers, and editors to assist in the design
\nof high-visibility applications that are used daily by creative professionals working in postproduction
\n(examples include Final Cut Pro, Motion and Soundtrack Pro).
\nThe intern will be responsible for researching, cataloguing, concepting, and articulating new
\nuser experiences; creating visual specifications; producing visual assets from established designs
\nand writing documentation required for proper design implementation for our applications.
\nThe candidate must be a natural collaborator, a passionate advocate for great software design,
\nand be capable of crafting simple solutions to complex problems.
\nQualifications:
\n\u2022 Minimum 2 years of experience editing video with sound design\/production, motion
\ngraphics, and photography.
\n\u2022 Experience creating or designing innovative and visually stunning experiences for the
\nweb, software, games, DVDs, or video.
\n\u2022 Degree candidate in film production, interaction design, human factors and\/or visual design
\n(or equivalent).
\n\u2022 Body of work presentable as a reel (film, video, web examples) or design portfolio demonstrating
\nthe successful delivery of innovative video, motion graphics, and\/or design.
\n\u2022 Understanding of fundamental design disciplines (typography, composition, information
\narchitecture, color and animation) and principals (affordance, clustering, consistency, usability,
\netc.).
\n\u2022 The ideal candidate is not afraid of a blank white board or blank screen.
\nSoftware Skills:
\n\u2022 Knowledge of editing, motion graphics, and finishing suites like FCP, Avid, Smoke, Luster,
\netc.
\n\u2022 Highly versed in graphic design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Omnigraffle, etc.
\n\u2022 Mastery of the Mac OS X platform.
\n\u2022 Knowledge of prototyping tools such as Flash, Director and\/or AfterEffects is a big plus.<\/p>\n
