The Freshkills Park project team includes design professionals,<br \/>\nplanners, programming and events staff, and administration.<\/p>\n<p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES<br \/>\n\u2022 Under general supervision, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate public<br \/>\nevents and programs for Freshkills Park.<br \/>\n\u2022 Develop grant proposals to further the project objectives and fund aspects of park development. Manage the Freshkills Park Grants<br \/>\nportfolio, including research, writing and managing all reporting requirements.<br \/>\n\u2022 Organize projects that will capitalize on the unique nature and expanse of the site that may include the implementation of a public art<br \/>\nprogram, an environmental education program, site defining special events and other projects.<br \/>\n\u2022 Cultivate partnerships with organizations that further the goals of the project and support the anticipated programs.<br \/>\n\u2022 Oversee community engagement and constituency building program for the park. Supervise tour, education and presentation portfolio of<br \/>\nPark Outreach Coordinator and the recruitment and work program for continuing intern group.<br \/>\n\u2022 Manage communications, including the newsletter, the project website and use of social media as appropriate. Act as a liaison with the<br \/>\nParks Department Press Office. Make public presentations; engage professional and community partners.<br \/>\n\u2022 Support the work of the Freshkills Park Development team as needed.<\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS<br \/>\n1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in<br \/>\nan area related to the duties described above; or<br \/>\n2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related<br \/>\nto the duties as described above; or<br \/>\n3. Education and\/or experience which is equivalent to \u201c1\u201d or \u201c2\u201d above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience<br \/>\nas described in \u201c1\u201d above.<br \/>\nResidency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with<br \/>\nover two years of city service. New York City residency required for all other candidates.<\/p>\n<p>PREFERRED SKILLS\/QUALIFICATIONS<br \/>\n1. Educational concentration or professional experience in planning, art, architecture or environmental studies.<br \/>\n2. Experience in project coordination, grants management and multi-faceted community outreach and engagement efforts.<br \/>\n3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.<br \/>\n4. Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills.<br \/>\n5. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.<br \/>\n6.
