\nWe are glad to announce the official<\/p>\n
CALL FOR INTERACTIVE PARTICIPATORY ARTWORKS
\nART EXHIBITION FOR PDC 2014<\/p>\n
The theme is \u201creflecting connectedness\u201d, symbolizing the ever growing trend in technologically designed artifacts (e.g. smart phones, social networking, etc.). However, the concept of connectedness is not new and has been prevalent in many Southern African philosophies, such as Ubuntu.
\nThese artworks will form part of the program for the Participatory Design Conference, which will take place in Windhoek, 6th-10th October, 2014. This is an experience not to be missed. For art to have an even bigger role than in previous years, an exhibition running throughout the time of the conference will be organized.<\/p>\n
The exhibition will also be accessible to the public, ensuring the spread of participatory design amongst the nation. Exhibition Opening: 8th October, 2014 (duration: 8th-10th Oct).
\nArt installation submission:
\nWe would like to invite artists working with any form of interactive participatory methods or on interaction design to submit their projects. The works can take inspiration from visual and digital media, performance arts, installations, communication technologies, touch, sound and any other genres that allow participants to take part or become part of the artifact. Art in which the participants shape the design and create the art work are also accepted. Submission requirements can be found on the website. A selection panel will review whether all requirements are fulfilled.<\/p>\n
Closing date for proposals: 10th March 2014<\/strong><\/p>\nWhy this exciting opportunity?<\/p>\n
This project will show the creative face of Namibia and will inspire international participants. This exposure to an international audience will create new networking opportunities for many artists. Exhibited artworks can be sold.<\/p>\n
Media\/Material:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Any material or visual art media (painting, photography, printmaking, textiles, sculpture, installation, etc.)
\n\u2022 Funding for material support may be requested once art installation is accepted (more info to follow).<\/p>\n
