The Web Intern will have the opportunity to contribute creatively to a constantly evolving, highly-visited humanitarian website while improving his\/her design, development, and\/or content management skills. An individual looking to put an Interactive Design or Web\/Creative Technology degree to work for a good cause and to learn more about Web\/digital strategy and content management for non-profits will be perfectly suited for this position. The selected candidate must be willing to commit to this internship for the duration of the semester.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that for the current semester, the internship will concentrate heavily on Web site editorial and content organization\/management in Drupal 7.<\/p>\n<p>Duties: The Web Intern will be expected to perform the following tasks, in order of importance and current need:<br \/>\nPerform editorial review on and organize large amounts of content (articles, events, press releases, etc) that have been migrated to our new Drupal site<\/p>\n<p>Post content to website regularly and assist with administrative tasks<\/p>\n<p>Learn or improve understanding of Drupal, including contributing to content management, site building, and maintenance<\/p>\n<p>Monitor and produce web metrics<\/p>\n<p>Participate in discussions regarding site development and growth<\/p>\n<p>Create and optimize content for the Web and social media<\/p>\n<p>Edit multimedia files, including slideshows, audio and video<\/p>\n<p>Design web layouts, graphics, banners, and e-mail templates<\/p>\n<p>Required Skills:<\/p>\n<p>Previous use and understanding of Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Drupal and WordPress; comfortable with analyzing Web pages<\/p>\n<p>Ability to use Photoshop (or other ACS programs) for Web design<\/p>\n<p>Comfortable with HTML and CSS<\/p>\n<p>Attention to detail; excellent proofreading and grammar skills<\/p>\n<p>Ability to troubleshoot one\u2019s own work<\/p>\n<p>Ability to prioritize tasks and manage own time<\/p>\n<p>Knowledge of video editing programs<\/p>\n<p>Comfortable working on both PC and Mac platforms<\/p>\n<p>Preferred Skills:<br \/>\nExpertise in Photoshop<\/p>\n<p>Coding knowledge or skills (PHP and Javascript)<\/p>\n<p>Duration &amp; Compensation:<br \/>\nThe expected commitment is 15 to 20 hours per week, and the intern must be available to work on site in our Manhattan office.<\/p>\n<p>The internship starts immediately and runs through the remainder of the Fall 2013 semester.
