{"id":14604,"date":"2013-11-08T16:42:24","date_gmt":"2013-11-08T20:42:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/?p=14604"},"modified":"2013-11-08T16:42:24","modified_gmt":"2013-11-08T20:42:24","slug":"gig-physical-computing-developer-for-osx-app","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/2013\/11\/08\/gig-physical-computing-developer-for-osx-app\/","title":{"rendered":"[GIG] Physical Computing Developer, for OSX app"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><b>Seeking Physical-Computing Developer to create Sensor triggers as inputs to Mac application (PixelConduit, Jitter or GPI trigger)<\/b><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We are looking for a talented developer to create a few simple sensor triggers to connect to a OSX app (either PixelConduit, Jitter or a similar triggered accepting program).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>The purpose of these sensors is to place them in a room and have them trigger different video sequences. These could be built with Arduinos, RaspberryPi&#8217;s or any other device that you are familiar with which will get the job done.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The sensors needed are:<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pressure Switch sensor<\/span><\/b>: to detect when a actor steps on a pad (similar to the floor pad game controllers \u00a0in dancing games that detect when a player step on the right beat). Like a basic version of a Wii Dancing Mat (in fact&#8230; could be a repurposed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1NV0YW9275&amp;nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP&amp;cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-_-pla-_-Nintendo+Wii+Accessories-_-9SIA1NV0YW9275\" target=\"_blank\">Wii Dancing Mat\u00a0<\/a>if you can connect the data output for us to either PixelConduit or a GPI triggered device.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Proximity or Vision sensor<\/span>:\u00a0<\/b>to detect when a ball tossed by the user passes through a target (or hits a target). Ideally this is either a proximity sensor, RF sensor or a video camera detecting when a ball crosses a frame. When the ball passes the threshold a signal switch needs to be sent into PixelConduit to trigger the corresponding video.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<div>We are looking to have 5 units of each sensor above developed.<\/div>\n<div>We need these to be developed over the next 3-5 weeks, and are available in New York for any meeting and testing necessary.
