The position is part-time\u2014approximately 15 hours per week\u2014for six months, January 2014 through June 2014. The\u00a0position is ideal for current master\u2019s or doctoral programs in Communication, Child\u00a0Development, Psychology, the Learning Sciences, Education (Educational Technology,\u00a0Anthropology), Sociology, or related fields. This is a non-paid internship, but Sesame Workshop\u00a0pays interns a daily stipend to cover transportation and lunch expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Duties<\/p>\n<p>Field Research<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Scheduling interviews\/observations<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Managing permission slips\/consent forms<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Conducting interviews and observations<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Conducting experience sampling phone calls<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Data logging video tapes<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Processing and inventorying paper and electronic data (compressing, labeling, storing)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Transcribing interviews<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Coding data (video, transcripts, field notes)<\/p>\n<p>Meeting Planning<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate details for various meetings and research-related workshops planned for 2014,\u00a0including drafting and sending out invitations, handling RSVPs, requesting\u00a0materials\/information from participants, preparing meeting materials, making catering and\u00a0technical arrangements, preparing guest lists for security, making electronic recordings of\u00a0proceedings (audio, video), taking meeting notes, preparing notes for participants, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Other<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Conducting background research and drafting text for literature reviews<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Copyediting and proofreading<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Other duties as assigned<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications<\/p>\n<p>Required<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Master\u2019s (or near) degree in Communications, Education, Psychology, Child Development,\u00a0Learning Sciences, Sociology, or related field<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Interest in and awareness of key issues in digital media and learning<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Fluent with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Excellent writing skills; experience proofreading and copy-editing<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Two years professional work experience<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Attentive to details!<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Able to function independently, work in a team environment, manage multiple priorities, and\u00a0meet deadlines<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sense of humor and diplomatic skills<\/p>\n<p>Desired<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Fluent in Spanish<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience using ethnographic research methods, including interviews, observations, and\u00a0taking field notes<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience with administrative aspects of conducting research, including participant\u00a0recruitment, processing and managing data, organizing\/managing consent forms, etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Interest in and awareness of key issues in any of the following: language and literacy, digital\u00a0equity, family studies, Hispanic families, children\u2019s geographies<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience using iMovie, Final Cut Pro or other video editing software; EndNote or other\u00a0reference management software; Dedoose or other qualitative data analysis software; GIS\u00a0and mapping technologies<\/p>\n<p>Hours and Pay<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 15 hours per week, flexible. Position begins in early January 2014 and runs\u00a0through June 2014. This is an unpaid internship but Sesame Workshop pays a daily stipend of\u00a0$30\/day.
