The Communications Intern will report to\u00a0the Executive Director and work closely with the Editors to promote our monthly online\u00a0magazine of international literature and related events. The ideal candidate will have\u00a0strong verbal and written communications skills and knowledge of the international\u00a0literary landscape. This is a great opportunity for a creative individual interested in\u00a0developing skills in marketing and communications in the non-profit or publishing fields.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Maintain, update, and expand organization\u2019s press list<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Draft press releases for monthly magazine of international literature and other\u00a0organizational projects<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Update various social media platforms with compelling copy<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Develop and implement press outreach strategies<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Research and develop ideas for marketing and promoting WWB to new audiences<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Help organize and promote special events in New York City<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Other interesting tasks as assigned<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Strong interest in international literature, media, and\/or communications<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Excellent verbal and written communication skills<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Prior experience organizing social media outreach and campaigns<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Expression Engine (WordPress-type), and\u00a0social media tools<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Knowledge of one or more foreign languages recommended<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Outgoing personality, with the ability to forge new professional relationships,\u00a0both in person and online<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on a small, dynamic team<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in Literature, Journalism, Media or related field preferred<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The internship requires a commitment of 15 hours a week for a minimum of four months\u00a0and is based at the Words without Borders office in the West Village.
