\nDescription:
\nThe Department of Art & Art History is seeking an artist with a contemporary, experimental practice in
\ndata visualization to develop and teach courses that will serve a range of undergraduate and graduate
\nstudents in the department and to develop and lead the arts entrepreneurship and innovation initiative for
\nthe College of Humanities and the Arts. The Department of Art & Art History offers BA degrees in Art
\nEducation and Studio Art, a BA and MA in Art History & Visual Culture, and BFA and MFA degrees in
\nDigital Media Art, Photography, Pictorial Art, and Spatial Art to approximately 450 undergraduates and
\n80 graduate students. This is a high-energy and interdisciplinary department best known for its focus on
\nteaching and for its outstanding fabrication facilities. The candidate will be associated with the Digital
\nMedia Art program, which has hosted the CADRE institute for more than 20 years, publishes SWITCH
\n(an online magazine), and has close connections to ZERO1 as well as to the campus-wide Learning and
\nGames Initiative. The ideal candidate will be interested in making connections among and across these
\nand related innovative areas in the College and on the campus.
\nQualifications:
\n\u25cf Master of Fine Arts or Ph.D. in a pertinent discipline
\n\u25cf Minimum of two years teaching experience at the university level
\n\u25cf A portfolio of creative work that incorporates digital and network technologies focusing on web
\ndevelopment and data visualization
\n\u25cf Demonstrated artistic achievement as evidenced by a record of national or international
\nexhibitions, and\/or publications
\n\u25cf Demonstrated experience in imagining, organizing, and effecting transdisciplinary projects such
\nas would connect a university and its liberal arts students to the contemporary world of work
\n\u25cf Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, such
\nas might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable
\nexperiences<\/p>\n

Responsibilities:
\n\u25cf Teach and develop graduate and undergraduate courses in web development and data
\nvisualization using HTML 5, CSS, and JavaScript, in addition to iOS and Android application
\ndevelopment. Additional skills in 3d modeling using Maya, 3DSMax, Rhino, and\/ or Blender is
\npreferred
\n\u25cf Teach in a variety of transdisciplinary practice areas including graduate seminars, tutorials, and
\nexperimental courses that serve all of the department\u2019s students.
\n\u25cf Advise the College of Humanities and the Arts on issues related to innovation, entrepreneurship
\nin the arts, event production, and project management
\n\u25cf Develop, implement, and coordinate a college-wide internship program for students interested in
\narts entrepreneurship, innovation, and management
\n\u25cf Develop new courses and\/or interdisciplinary curricula related to the position\u2019s focus
\n\u25cf Effectiveness in academic assignment, service on department, college, and university committees,
\nand continuing create and professional activity are required to achieve tenure and promotion
\n\u25cf Candidate must address the needs of a student population of great diversity \u2013 in age, cultural
\nbackground, ethnicity, primary language, and academic preparation \u2013 through course materials,
\nteaching strategies, and advisement.<\/p>\n

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
