Under the supervision of the Web\u00a0Communications Manager, the intern will learn how to create digital communications products\u00a0for the website, www.hrw.org, like web pages and interactive timelines, analyze analytics, and\u00a0brainstorm other ways to improve the digital presentation of our information. Other projects can be\u00a0assigned as they arise and match the applicant&#8217;s interests and abilities. Ideally, the student would\u00a0be available to intern 2 days or 16 hours a week through December.<\/p>\n<p>Internship is unpaid. Students are often able to arrange academic credit, as HRW internships offer\u00a0direct exposure to the workings of an international human rights organization, close supervision by\u00a0the HRW staff, interaction with other US and international organizations and foreign and domestic\u00a0government officials, and opportunities to attend lectures, trainings, and special events relating to\u00a0human rights. Students should check with their individual academic institutions for requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications: Interns must be enrolled students for the duration of the internship. Applicants\u00a0should be comfortable with taking on tasks that require analytical skills, and have the knowledge\u00a0and ability to deal with web-based technologies, as well as social media tools (Facebook,\u00a0Twitter, etc). Computer skills &#8212; HTML, some CSS, experience with Drupal or a similar content\u00a0management system &#8212; are required. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, self-motivated,\u00a0reliable, have excellent time management skills, and a strong interest in international human rights.<\/p>\n<p>An attention to detail and tenacity to fix problems are also highly valued.
