Description<\/p>\n
The User Experience Research (UXR) group in Intel Labs is currently accepting applications for a User\u00a0Experience Prototyping intern who is currently enrolled in a master\u2019s or PhD program and matriculating\u00a0toward a degree. The successful candidate will be joining a world-class team of industry researchers with\u00a0a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds, including: social scientists, design researchers, interaction\u00a0designers, human factors engineers, strategic planners, technology innovators, hardware engineers, and\u00a0computer scientists. The Intel Labs intern will work with a collaborative team to design, prototype,\u00a0document, and evangelize proposed user experiences in order to further the Lab\u2019s research agenda in\u00a0Open Platforms.<\/p>\n
This is a full-time, paid position. The length of the internship is 12 weeks over the summer; the details of\u00a0start- and end-dates will be coordinated with other interns working on the same program. Candidates\u00a0must be willing to relocate to the Santa Clara, California area for the duration of the internship. Relocation\u00a0assistance is available through Intel.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Job responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Design, research, and building of prototypes that explore future technology experiences on Intel Open\u00a0Platforms (e.g. Galileo, Edison, or beyond)<\/p>\n
\u2022 Extensive collaboration with design and research team members to synthesize user research, and\u00a0develop\/visualize product concepts, interaction schemes, and user experiences<\/p>\n
\u2022 Contributing to the development of a user experience strategy for emerging technologies, positioning\u00a0projects within the context of Intel\u2019s business, industry\/ecosystem developments, and emerging\u00a0consumer behaviors<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate the following:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Experience working on collaborative team projects in interaction design, information architecture,\u00a0and\/or design for digital experiences<\/p>\n
Experience with iterative prototyping within a design process<\/p>\n
\u2022 Interest in convergent digital-physical interfaces<\/p>\n
\u2022 Visual design skills and experience, and demonstrated familiarity with Photoshop and Illustrator<\/p>\n
\u2022 Excellent written\/verbal communication and presentation skills<\/p>\n
\u2022 Wild creativity paired with strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills<\/p>\n
\u2022 High tolerance for a dynamic work environment with rapidly changing priorities<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/p>\n
Minimum Requirements<\/p>\n
\u2022 Current enrollment in a master\u2019s or PhD program in Computer Science, Engineering, Human Factors,\u00a0Applied Arts, Design or related discipline<\/p>\n
\u2022 1+ years demonstrated practical experience with computer programming (e.g. JavaScript, Python, C,\u00a0C++, CSS, HTML, Qt)<\/p>\n

Preferred Qualifications<\/p>\n
\u2022 1+ years demonstrated practical experience with interactive prototyping tools such as Arduino,\u00a0Processing, OpenFrameworks<\/p>\n
\u2022 1+ years demonstrated practical experience working in Open Source communities (hardware or\u00a0software)<\/p>\n
