Guggenheim Foundation is seeking part-time technicians who\u00a0specialize in the installation of artworks that employ video, audio, film, computers and all\u00a0other types of electronic media. This position will require concentrated periods of work\u00a0during exhibition changeovers and intermittent temporary work during exhibitions. This\u00a0position will report to the Head of Media Arts.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1937, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is dedicated to promoting\u00a0the understanding and appreciation of art, primarily of the modern and contemporary\u00a0periods, through exhibitions, education programs, research initiatives, and publications.<\/p>\n<p>The Guggenheim network that began in the 1970s when the Solomon R. Guggenheim\u00a0Museum, New York, was joined by the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice, has\u00a0since expanded to include the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (opened 1997) and the\u00a0Guggenheim Abu Dhabi (currently in development). Looking to the future, the\u00a0Guggenheim Foundation continues to forge international collaborations that take\u00a0contemporary art, architecture, and design beyond the walls of the museum. More\u00a0information about the foundation can be found at guggenheim.org.<\/p>\n<p>Supervisory Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>There are no direct reports associated with this position.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Install a variety of A\/V equipment, including monitors, projectors, speakers,\u00a0computers, and playback equipment.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Run cables in and on walls, floors and ceilings.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Terminate various types of cables at custom lengths.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Create custom mounts for equipment.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Be on call for intermittent weekend and evening events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications and Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Facility with hand and power tools, such as drills, saws, levels, and soldering\u00a0irons.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Skill to troubleshoot AV installations with minimal assistance.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Ability to work with a team of people throughout the museum, including\u00a0facilities staff, conservators, registrars, art handlers, curators and exhibition\u00a0designers.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Well organized.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Flexibility and problem-solving skills.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems preferred.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Knowledge of computer networks and networking equipment preferred.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Programming skills a plus, including the creation and modification of custom\u00a0programs to control and synchronize playback equipment. familiarity with\u00a0technologies such as PHP, Python, Bash scripting and Linux preferred.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Knowledge of video editing in Final Cut a plus.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Ability to climb ladders and use electronic lifts.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Guggenheim offers a competitive salary, access to a variety of cultural\u00a0institutions, discounts to museum stores, and a stimulating and collegial work\u00a0environment.<\/p>\n<p>Qualified applicants please send your resume and cover letter, including salary\u00a0expectations, to <strong>employment@guggenheim.org<\/strong>.
