The goal of the project is to explore<br \/>\nartistically and scientifically how rules of interaction and response within<br \/>\na network of dancers, musicians, and automata, with multiple sensing<br \/>\nmodalities and a combination of prescribed and individualized choices and<br \/>\ndynamics, yield complex emergent collective behavior of the ensemble. The<br \/>\nproject will build on the existing work of Flock Logic, an investigation of<br \/>\nthe emergent dynamics of a group of dancers moving together according to<br \/>\nrules used to model flocking behavior (see<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.princeton.edu\/~flocklogic\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.princeton.edu\/~<wbr \/>flocklogic<\/a>\u00a0). The post-doctoral researcher will<br \/>\nassume a central, creative role in the research project.<\/div>\n<div>Essential Qualifications<br \/>\nCandidates should have a PhD in a relevant field of engineering, science, or<br \/>\nmathematics with expertise in one or more of the following: control,<br \/>\nrobotics, network dynamics, collective animal or human behavior.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Preferred Qualifications<br \/>\nEvidence of strong interest and some experience in dance and\/or music.<\/p>\n<p>This is a one year term position renewable depending upon available funding<br \/>\nand satisfactory performance.
