The Museum of the City of New York is the premier institution devoted to the\u00a0history and culture of New York\u2019s five boroughs; it explores the City\u2019s heritage of\u00a0diversity, opportunity, and perpetual transformation through exhibitions, public\u00a0programs, collections, publications, and a relaunched website, including a\u00a0collections portal containing over 135,000 images.<\/p>\n
The Museum seeks a talented and experienced Web Designer & Administrator. The\u00a0position supports the newly created digital team in design, development, and site\u00a0maintenance work relating to its digital properties. These include the museum and\u00a0shop websites, e-mail marketing program, and social media. The ideal candidate is\u00a0grounded in user experience design, and skilled in creating digital work-products\u00a0that drive results. This position is part time, requiring 21 hours per week.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Website Design and Development Support<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0Provide creative input and assist with design, build-out and\u00a0implementation of online campaigns such as interactive landing pages,\u00a0contests, and surveys<\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0Design and produce online marketing materials such as homepage\u00a0lightboxes, web banners, social media graphics<\/p>\n \u2022 Design and develop new website features to enhance user-experience<\/p>\n \u2022 Design, develop, and deploy html emails<\/p>\n \u2022 Collaborate with vendors who support ongoing website maintenance<\/p>\n \u2022 Maintain design standards and ensure the Museum\u2019s visual brand is\u00a0translated to the digital properties<\/p>\n Website Maintenance and Administration<\/p>\n \u2022 Routine management and updates to MCNY\u2019s website and shop site,\u00a0including content and graphics<\/p>\n \u2022 Manage updates to external applications integrated with website, such as\u00a0Wufoo forms and Vista ticketing pages<\/p>\n \u2022 Manage aspects of e-mail database, e.g. data uploads, exports and queries.<\/p>\n \u2022 Conduct light server administration.<\/p>\n Required Skills and Experience:<\/p>\n \u2022 Minimum of 2 years of web design and development experience is required<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience in web graphic production and optimization using Adobe\u00a0Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) required<\/p>\n \u2022 Intermediate to advanced skills with front end web development (HTML,\u00a0CSS) required<\/p>\n \u2022 Working knowledge of Javascript, including jQuery and JSON<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience working with content management systems required<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience with responsive design concepts and development a plus<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience with mobile web development a plus<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience with HTML5 and CSS3 standards a plus<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience with HTML email development a plus<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience with Google Analytics<\/p>\n \u2022 Excellent verbal & written communication skills<\/p>\n \u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in relevant field<\/p>\n \u2022 Ability to work autonomously and manage assignments simultaneously<\/p>\n \u2022 Working knowledge of Drupal and\/or Mailchimp a plus<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience in producing online marketing or advertising materials preferred<\/p>\n \u2022 Digital portfolio required for consideration<\/p>\n Salary is commensurate with experience.<\/p>\n Qualified individuals can send their resume with cover letter and salary\u00a0requirements to the attention of Human Resources at jobs@mcny.org or mail to:<\/p>\n Museum of the City of New York, Attention: Human Resources, 1220 Fifth Avenue,\u00a0New York, NY 10029.
