NWS fellows are challenged by a demanding course of practical training,\u00a0performances and instructional activities intended to develop the full complement of skills and\u00a0qualifications required of musicians in the 21st century. The three-year fellowship program offers a\u00a0wide range of performance and educational opportunities. The New World Symphony&#8217;s success may be\u00a0measured in part by the careers of its hundreds of alumni who have attained positions with professional\u00a0orchestras and ensembles throughout America and around the world.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2011 the New World Symphony inaugurated its Frank Gehry-designed campus\u2014a laboratory\u00a0for the way classical music is taught, presented and experienced\u2014in the heart of Miami Beach&#8217;s Art\u00a0Deco district. A highlight of the new campus is its unprecedented integration of technology into\u00a0educational, rehearsal and performance spaces. An iconic concert auditorium features a nearly 360-degree projected video and lighting capability; a large additional complement of theatrical lighting; nine\u00a0robotic cameras and an HD media suite; and top-of-the-line audio recording and sound reinforcement\u00a0equipment. The campus also includes seven video, lighting and audio design and post-production\u00a0studios. In addition, the New World Center contains over two miles of fiber optic cabling which\u00a0connects all of the major rehearsal and performance spaces as well as the four ensemble rehearsal\u00a0rooms and 24 individual practice rooms.<\/p>\n<p>SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:<\/p>\n<p>NWS is searching for a Director of Online Programs, a newly created position, to oversee the\u00a0development and presentation of New World Symphony&#8217;s online educational and artistic initiatives. The\u00a0successful applicant will give structure to NWS\u2019 current online programs, insure that the content and\u00a0tone of NWS\u2019s online presence is aligned with its tradition and current brand, and will anticipate future\u00a0programs, including ones that are experimental in nature. These include, but are not limited to, special\u00a0projects developed and led by the Artistic Director, as well as MUSAIC, an online source of information and reference, created by NWS in collaboration with other music training institutions, for music\u00a0students and classical music enthusiasts around the world. The Director of Online Programs will work\u00a0closely with the Artistic Director, as well as collaborate with staff across all departments, fellows, visiting\u00a0artists and faculty, and external partners.<\/p>\n<p>RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with the Artistic Director, serve as project manager of MUSAIC as well as other special\u00a0projects recorded for online presentation. For such projects:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 In consultation with the SVP of Artistic Programs, manage the development and presentation of\u00a0online artistic content and design<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 In consultation with the SVP and Dean, and the Musician Advancement team, manage the\u00a0development and presentation of online educational content, as well as the involvement of\u00a0NWS fellows in various online projects, including:<\/p>\n<p>o MUSAIC content generation timelines for NWS fellows, NWS faculty, partner\u00a0institutions, and other external contributors<\/p>\n<p>o Uploading of assets, generation of metadata, and bookmarking of new videos on\u00a0MUSAIC<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 In consultation with Director of Video Production and other pertinent production staff, oversee:<\/p>\n<div>o timelines for the editorial process<\/div>\n<p>o internal video production workflows<\/p>\n<p>o final editing of such projects prior to their presentation online, including technical\u00a0review of Premier Partner submissions to MUSAIC<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 In consultation with the CFO, manage all fiscal budgets relating to online projects<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 In consultation with the VP of Communications and other communications staff, manage the\u00a0timelines for web development, design, online presence, PR, customer service, communications\u00a0strategies, and marketing of the online projects, including:<\/p>\n<p>o Growth of the MUSAIC user base through effective content curation and development\u00a0of innovative social programs<\/p>\n<p>o Website design, software development, and planning of new features on MUSAIC with\u00a0developer Fractured Atlas, Inc.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 In consultation with the Executive Vice President, the VP for Communications, and the Director\u00a0of Video Production, develop and execute means and opportunities to represent, promote and\u00a0distribute the New World Symphony\u2019s fellowship program, its fellows and its artistic and\u00a0educational activities on online video for external communications and other publicity purposes.<\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATIONS:<\/p>\n<p>Required:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 An advanced understanding of digital content platforms, online modalities, and instructional\u00a0design<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A track record of successfully developing, launching, distributing, promoting, and\/or otherwise\u00a0managing large-scale online platforms<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Extensive knowledge of website and mobile app design and functionality<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Familiarity with music production\u2014including music video production, streaming media, on-line\u00a0content distribution, and digital asset management<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Excellent project-based organizational skills and ability to manage numerous simultaneous\u00a0projects in a demanding, multi-activity work environment<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to interact effectively as both a leader and team player with a variety of creative\u00a0personalities<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proven capacity to manage budgets<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proficiency with post-production software including, but not limited to Final Cut Studio, Adobe\u00a0Premiere, Adobe After Effects and Photoshop<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to anticipate, troubleshoot, and manage online customer service needs<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Familiarity with the orchestral and chamber music repertoire<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proven attention to detail and to the highest standards of production and online presentation<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Excellent written and oral communication skills<\/p>\n<p>Preferred: An advanced degree, an academic path that exhibits training in digital media and the classical\u00a0music field (including the ability to read music), or equivalent work experience; demonstrated use of\u00a0creative thinking around video content distribution and software development of artistically driven\u00a0projects.<\/p>\n<p>COMPENSATION:<\/p>\n<p>Negotiable based on experience and subject to budgetary parameters.
