The Digital Product User Experience Design Studio is seeking a highly motivated<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Design Technologist, or Creative Technologist. This individual will help create<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
and define design-focused technology solutions that deliver on Amazon\u2019s Digital<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Products vision. They will be part of a small, nimble team focused on user-facing<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
aspects of consumer electronics products, and will prototype and refine great end-<\/div>\n
to-end experiences for Amazon customers. This work is done quickly and without<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
the aid of specs.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Digital Technologists are part of the entire design process. Input on design concepts<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
is expected, as well as the ability to improve upon existing concepts. DTs hack their<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
way around platform limitations, tinker with concepts, and think creatively in code.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This is done quickly, iteratively and collaboratively in a Design Studio environment.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Further, you\u2019ll be asked to help define and build our toolset, both for other DTs and<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
for the UX group as a whole. DT work is used to demonstrate UX design concepts, to<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
be a reference for engineering, and sometimes to ship products.<\/div>\n

Responsibilities of the role include:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Create high fidelity prototypes and reference code.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Demonstrate and test of solutions that take maximum advantage of a platform\u2019s<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
technical capabilities.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Work very quickly with minimal documentation.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Work with design leadership and key stakeholders to prototype and to define<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
user concepts for next-generation user experiences.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Work with visual and interaction designers to ensure compliance with key SDK<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
and HIG standards on shipping products.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Develop, implement and evangelize a process for design and engineering to<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
work closely together on the rapid iteration of design concepts.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Work closely with Architecture, Engineering and QA to create successful ways of<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
working between Engineering and Design.<\/div>\n

Basic Qualifications<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
3+ years of software development.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Strong understanding of Android development practices.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Proven ability to innovate within and extend current technology through<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
prototypes.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Experience with one or more of the following: Python, C#, C++, ActionScript3 or<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
HTML5\/CSS3\/JavaScript<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 The ability to create user experiences and to explore concepts across a variety of<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
platforms.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 World-class invention and problem-solving skills.<\/div>\n

\u2022 Experience building data driven prototypes and tools in C#, Java and HTML5\/<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
CSS3\/JavaScript.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Understanding of broadcast\/motion design, color theory, typography,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
composition and iconography a plus.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Familiarity with consumer electronics and related technology, such as Arduino<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
and Raspberry Pi.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Team member on large scale shipping consumer product.<\/div>\n
