I hope this finds you well with summer nearing a close! I am writing to a small group of you to share details about one of the New Museum\u2019s Department of Education and Public Engagement programs that I think may be of interest to you or others you know,\u00a0<\/a>New Museum Seminars: (Temporary) Collections of Ideas.<\/a>\u00a0The seminar series was initiated last Spring, bringing together small groups of multidisciplinary thinkers and practitioners over a three-month period to discuss pressing thematics\u00a0related to art and the expanded art context. Twelve participants are selected through an application process that takes into account the strengths and interests of a diverse group of individuals. The weekly closed peer-led sessions are structured around a collaboratively generated syllabus.\u00a0The inaugural seminars, dedicated to VOICE, culminated in a symposium in June.<\/p>\n

The next topic of focus will be associated with the Education Department\u2019s R&D Season thematic of CHOREOGRAPHY. We are currently asking applicants to articulate what studying \u00a0\u201cchoreography\u201d would mean for them: they could address the very concept of \u201cchoreography\u201d and, additionally, various ways of \u201cwriting the body\u201d to extend its value both inside and beyond the purview of dance.<\/p>\n

The Seminars will begin its second session in late September, with\u00a0participants coming together every\u00a0Monday\u00a0evening. The group is now being selected via an open call with\u00a0*applications due\u00a0Monday, September 8.*<\/b>\u00a0More info on the structure, last semester, and application materials can be found on the museum\u2019s website\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
