The Facilitator will serve as the lead field\u00a0implementer for Here Comes Solar!, a new initiative that aims to make solar\u00a0technology more understandable, affordable and attainable through group-based\u00a0collaboration, and other network-based strategies. This position provides the\u00a0opportunity to work with a dedicated, hardworking team and to make critical\u00a0contributions to an innovative new approach to increasing solar adoption in America&#8217;s largest city.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014 Here Comes Solar! will build on Solar One\u2019s successful 2013 pilot projects,\u00a0including Solarize Brooklyn, to launch a set of community-based solar projects\u00a0working with diverse groups of homeowners, building owners, and nonprofit\u00a0organizations all over New York City. The Facilitator will work closely with technical\u00a0field staff and report to the Here Comes Solar! Initiative Director, with major\u00a0responsibilities including:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Conducting outreach to potential community partners and program\u00a0participants (homeowners, building owners, community leaders).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Organizing and delivering education sessions and events for potential\u00a0program participants.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Promoting, maintaining and managing an online support and knowledge-sharing network composed of current and aspiring solar system owners and\u00a0beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Coordinating program activities with community partners, including\u00a0neighborhood groups, community development and environmental justice\u00a0organizations, and associations of nonprofit and\/or religious organizations.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Assisting with solar installer review and selection processes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Creating blog and video content documenting ongoing initiative activities<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Providing oversight of volunteer and intern activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Tracking program progress and metrics, and organizing reports to program partners<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Writing drafts of marketing materials, program reports, and other documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 General project management and administrative support: organizing files and\u00a0proposals, scheduling meetings, event logistics, and other tasks.<\/p>\n<p>The Facilitator position is strongly field oriented and involves working in\u00a0neighborhoods throughout New York City, as well as Solar One\u2019s Manhattan Office. \u00a0The position requires regular attendance at participant meetings and events on\u00a0weekends and during evening hours. This is a full-time, salaried position offering full\u00a0health\/dental benefits and paid time off. Salary will be commensurate with\u00a0The Facilitator position combines elements of community organizing, project\u00a0management, public education, and program administration. We are looking for\u00a0highly creative applicants with exceptional communication skills, a demonstrated\u00a0ability to cultivate and maintain participant networks, and organize and manage\u00a0complex projects, and a strong commitment to driving solar adoption in New York\u00a0City. 3+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor\u2019s degree or higher in a relevant\u00a0field are required. Familiarity with the general technical, performance and financial\u00a0characteristics of grid-interconnected solar photovoltaics is preferred. Qualifications include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience working with community, environmental, and\/or related projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to work independently and proactively identify opportunities, problems and solutions<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Understanding of and experience with a wide range of outreach\/marketing\u00a0strategies, including social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Outstanding writing skills for everything from tweets to program reports\u00a0tailored to diverse audiences and varying knowledge levels.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Comfort and experience as a public speaker; ability to communicate\u00a0effectively, persuasively and passionately one-on-one and in group settings.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience with event scheduling and logistics\u00a0\u2022 Excellent organizational skills and ability to track schedules and metrics for\u00a0multiple projects simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Strong aptitude with computers and online applications.
