The position combines technical<\/p>\n<p>administration with hands-on instruction in a Studio Arts context. The initial<\/p>\n<p>appointment will be for 2.5 years beginning January 2015, renewable based on<\/p>\n<p>funding and performance. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment. Although a<\/p>\n<p>staff position, the Technician will also hold the title of \u201cVisiting Assistant Professor\u201d<\/p>\n<p>within the Art and Art History Department. S\/he will report to the Dean of Arts and<\/p>\n<p>Humanities.<\/p>\n<p>Principal Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>Digital Project Support: Facilitates faculty and student use of digital applications<\/p>\n<p>that are central to the conduct of studio curricula, i.e., photographic editing and<\/p>\n<p>compositing, printmaking, sculptural and painted media, 3-D modeling, and digital<\/p>\n<p>design computer programs. Troubleshoots digital print output and application co-<br \/>\noperability as well as advanced technical solutions upon faculty or student request.<\/p>\n<p>Provides presentation and exhibition assistance, particularly for Senior Thesis<\/p>\n<p>students (i.e., mounted output, multimedia logistics).<\/p>\n<p>Studio and Classroom Support: Oversees maintenance of DDS, and assists<\/p>\n<p>with maintenance of additional digital classroom. Responsible for calibrating and<\/p>\n<p>managing DDS-based equipment, including computers, printers, and scanners.<\/p>\n<p>Maintains printing log, stocking of related supplies, and billing. Trains and<\/p>\n<p>supervises student monitors. Tracks industry developments and recommends the<\/p>\n<p>purchase of new and\/or updated technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Instruction\/Presentation: Provides leadership in the design, implementation<\/p>\n<p>and management of digital arts technologies and their innovative applications in<\/p>\n<p>teaching, learning and creative practice. Conducts hands-on training workshops<\/p>\n<p>and one-to-one instruction sessions on visual arts digital technology and software<\/p>\n<p>for students and faculty. Presents group demonstrations for faculty, staff, students,<\/p>\n<p>and visitors.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching: Develops a curriculum and teaches one elective studio in digital media<\/p>\n<p>during Summer Session or as needed.<\/p>\n<p>Collaboration: The Digital Design Studio Technician will coordinate day-to-<br \/>\nday operations in the DDS with its Faculty Advisory Board. S\/he will also work<\/p>\n<p>closely with Wesleyan\u2019s Information Technology staff in order to coordinate digital<\/p>\n<p>collections, image management and deployment, software licensing, and computer<\/p>\n<p>support, among other things.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications:<\/p>\n<p>Master of Fine Arts degree in an arts related field and a minimum of one year of<\/p>\n<p>relevant experience and expertise in Adobe Suite and Final Cut Pro (or equivalent)<\/p>\n<p>are required. Additionally, relevant teaching experience, expertise in Autocad (or<\/p>\n<p>equivalent), Rhino3D (or equivalent), 3D printing\/prototyping, and web design<\/p>\n<p>software are preferred.<\/p>\n<p>To Apply:<\/p>\n<p>Click http:\/\/careers.wesleyan.edu\/postings\/4600 to apply.
