{"id":16089,"date":"2014-10-21T14:37:43","date_gmt":"2014-10-21T18:37:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/?p=16089"},"modified":"2014-10-21T14:37:43","modified_gmt":"2014-10-21T18:37:43","slug":"job-graduate-preservation-assistant-preservation-department-of-new-york-university-libraries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/2014\/10\/21\/job-graduate-preservation-assistant-preservation-department-of-new-york-university-libraries\/","title":{"rendered":"[JOB] Graduate Preservation Assistant, Preservation Department of New York University Libraries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Job Description:<\/p>\n<p>Graduate Preservation Assistant<\/p>\n<p>The Preservation Department of New York University Libraries currently seeks a graduate\u00a0student to work 5-12 hours per week as a Graduate Preservation Assistant.<\/p>\n<p>The Barbara Goldsmith Preservation and Conservation Department Archives Preservation Unit\u00a0provides services and resources to the archives and special collections in Bobst Library to\u00a0improve the useful life of collections through preventive and remedial treatments, staff training,\u00a0and the establishment of standards and practices.<\/p>\n<p>Graduate Preservation Assistants\u2019 responsibilities include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Housing archival and special collections materials;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Remedial and retrospective interventions of accessioned materials;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Preservation surveys;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Environmental data collection; and<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Other projects as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Qualifications:<\/p>\n<p>Candidates must be detail oriented and have the ability to exercise good judgment; work\u00a0productively in deadline-oriented activities; work independently on assigned tasks; excellent\u00a0interpersonal skills and willingness to work in a team-oriented environment; and must be in\u00a0good physical condition in order to lift moderate (up to twenty pounds) and occasionally heavy\u00a0(up to 40 pounds) loads.
