Digital Learning Manager<\/div>\n

The After-School Corporation (TASC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing all students<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
with expanded learning opportunities that support, educate and inspire them. In its second decade,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
TASC developed and is implementing ExpandED Schools, a re-invention of the traditional school<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
day, in New York City, Baltimore and New Orleans. By giving kids in public elementary and middle<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
schools more time and a wider range of opportunities to learn, we offer a promising way for<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
educators and communities to redesign schools, restore arts, sports, science and other endangered<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
subjects and provide critical support to kids living in poverty.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Within TASC\u2019s Operations team, the Digital Learning Manager will play a critical role in developing<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
and advancing TASC\u2019s strategy to use technology in expanded learning and after-school settings.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
TASC recognizes the power that technology holds to enable students to engage in anytime,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This is a temporary, grant-funded position with the possibility of continuation pending grant<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
renewal. The position may be structured as full-time or part-time (at least 24 hours per week)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
depending on the candidate. Over an initial three month engagement (November \u2013January), the<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
1. Prepare for the launch of Connect2Tech, a partnership between TASC and Google:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
a. Liaise with a technology partner to redesign curricula for use by middle school after-<\/div>\n
school educators to roll out Coder for Raspberry Pi and CS First clubs,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
b. Conduct technology audit, classroom and network feasibility testing in collaboration<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
c. Identify and select pilot schools to participate,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
d. Write a Coder for Raspberry Pi start-up guide, and<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
e. Develop and deliver professional development.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
2. Brief TASC staff on current trends in education technology that may benefit our programs.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
3. Work with TASC staff across departments to understand TASC\u2019s programs, how technology<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
is currently used and challenges to better use of technology for students and educators.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
4. Write a report about opportunities and next steps TASC should take to advance its<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Qualifications and expectations of the role:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Bachelor\u2019s degree required; Master\u2019s degree or higher strongly preferred<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 A minimum of three years professional experience<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Proven track record in blending technology into curricula in an education setting<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Exceptional written and oral communication skills; experience providing training a plus<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Excellent interpersonal skills, judgment and diplomacy<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Ability to work independently and as part of team<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Highly motivated and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Willingness and ability to travel within New York City (approximately 20%)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
