The Product Owner\u2019s (PO) main objective is to ensure that customer product\u00a0vision is translated and executed. The PO will interface with their team and\u00a0stakeholders to drive the product forward. A product owner has a passion for\u00a0finding innovative solutions to business problems and is responsible for\u00a0\u201cbuilding the right thing\u201d by realizing the product business value.<\/p>\n

Exercise 1: You are opening a restaurant. You have $300,000 and an opening\u00a0date in 6 months. You have to hire a staff, put together a menu, and get the\u00a0restaurant ready for your first customers. In less than a page, using agile\u00a0principles, explain the customer experience you want to design, how you are\u00a0going to hire your team, structure communication, facilitate feedback, and keep\u00a0track of everything you need to do before the first customer arrives!<\/p>\n

RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0Interface directly with McKinsey consultants to understand their needs and\u00a0translate that vision to the project team consisting of 1 or more developers\u00a0and 1 or more designers<\/p>\n

\u2022 Own the product vision and work with the project team to make product\u00a0suggestions where necessary<\/p>\n

\u2022 Partner directly with designers and developers to ensure that project\u00a0commitments are feasible<\/p>\n

\u2022 Work in a highly iterative environment consisting of short feedback loops to\u00a0deliver incremental product progress up through delivery<\/p>\n

\u2022 Clearly formulate and articulate project scope and make trade-offs where\u00a0necessary, keeping product vision and project constraints in balance<\/p>\n

\u2022 Prioritizes and manages product backlog: user stories and acceptance criteria<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ensures product quality<\/p>\n

\u2022 Prepares, executes and incorporates feedback from field tests<\/p>\n

\u2022 Shield the project team from impediments and outside distractions<\/p>\n

REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n

\u2022 Minimum of 1-2 years\u2019 experience in a professional environment leading<\/p>\n

diverse, cross-disciplinary teams<\/p>\n

\u2022 Consulting knowledge a plus<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced consulting environment<\/p>\n

\u2022 Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior business\u00a0stakeholders on product decisions<\/p>\n

\u2022 Strong problem solving skills paired with the ability to develop creative and\u00a0efficient solutions<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ability to manage client expectations effectively and not get overwhelmed by\u00a0client pressures on team<\/p>\n

\u2022 Distinct customer focus and quality mindset<\/p>\n
