Job Description<\/h2>\n

Amazon Publishing is the full-service publishing arm of Amazon. Our mission is to invent new models to connect authors and readers. We\u2019re looking for a Design Technologist who has a comprehensive understanding of web and mobile development and is passionate about creating meaningful reading experiences. The Design Technologist will be part of a small, nimble team dedicated to developing, prototyping, and refining innovative visual storytelling that exist at the nexus of words, images, and technology. They should be an enthusiastic problem solver, capable of approaching challenges from multiple angles and working quickly and collaboratively to bring new ideas to life using an adaptive, data-driven approach. They should have innovative ideas for how to conceive, create, and deliver \u201cbest of breed\u201d digital reading experience that deliver on Amazon Publishing\u2019s vision. This role is critical to furthering the quality of the experience we provide our customers, to enhancing our competitive position, and to furthering innovation in the rapidly changing publishing industry.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities include:
\n\u2022 Build high-quality, functional prototypes, frameworks, and tools for new, digital reading experiences.
\n\u2022 Produce high-quality, innovative, cohesive deliverables that are customer-focused, simple and intuitive.
\n\u2022 Work collaboratively with editors, designers, product managers, management, internal business partners, and other subject matter experts.
\n\u2022 Participate in the full lifecycle of product development; including ideation, design, development, implementation, and testing.
\n\u2022 Create documentation, requirements, and specifications to support development.
\n\u2022 Collect and analyze data to support further iteration and decision making.<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/h2>\n

\u00b7 3+ years of experience as a front-end developer or web technologist role
\n\u00b7 An online portfolio of work demonstrating expertise creating front-end solutions
\n\u00b7 Deep understanding and fluent usage across a broad spectrum of technologies including: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (core and frameworks\/libraries such as jQuery), XML, JSON, web and server programming, and Responsive\/Adaptive Design
\n\u00b7 Passion for technology, willingness to dive deep into technical products and commitment to learning and expanding technical knowledge
\n\u00b7 Strong creative and conceptual thinker
\n\u00b7 Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
\n\u00b7 Self-starter with ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
\n\u00b7 Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
\n\u00b7 Ability to conceptualize and execute projects, with strong bias for action and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines<\/p>\n

Preferred Qualifications<\/h2>\n

\u00b7 BS\/MS in computer science or equivalent professional experience
\n\u00b7 Passionate reader of ebooks, picture books, comics, transmedia and other forms of and digital content
\n\u00b7 Experience with Agile\/Scrum methodologies
