Assistant Professor of Photography<\/p>\n
Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the\u00a0Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a full—time assistant professor of\u00a0photography beginning July 1, 2015.<\/p>\n
Hampshire\u2019s Film, Photography, Video program provides students the opportunity to develop\u00a0their artistic expression within an interdisciplinary context. Through an emphasis on project-based learning, students establish foundations in form and technique, examine current practices\u00a0and debates, and engage historical and theoretical frameworks that will inform their work as\u00a0visual artists.<\/p>\n
We seek candidates who are engaged artists with a serious professional practice. Candidates\u00a0should have demonstrated successful teaching at the undergraduate level and will be expected\u00a0to teach across production, theory\/practice and critique. Teaching experience should include: \u00a0analog black and white photography, digital photography and inkjet printing, large format\u00a0photography and lighting. Course work should incorporate historical and critical writings, and\u00a0current transnational and cross—cultural practices in photography, art, and digital media.<\/p>\n
Ability to communicate and work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary campus community and within a program incorporating film, video, installation\u00a0and performance studies is important.<\/p>\n
Qualified candidates must have an MFA in photography or its equivalent, and a significant\u00a0exhibition\/publication record. The position involves substantial student advising, program\u00a0and course development and college governance.<\/p>\n
