{"id":1642,"date":"2009-05-07T20:17:14","date_gmt":"2009-05-07T16:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/2009\/05\/07\/intern-internship-disney-research\/"},"modified":"2009-05-07T20:17:14","modified_gmt":"2009-05-07T16:17:14","slug":"intern-internship-disney-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/2009\/05\/07\/intern-internship-disney-research\/","title":{"rendered":"INTERN: INTERNSHIP @ DISNEY RESEARCH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; INTERNSHIP @ DISNEY RESEARCH<br \/>\n&gt; IN HCI AND INTERACTION DESIGN.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; Open Immediately.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; Disney Research, Pittsburgh has an open position for a Research<br \/>\n&gt; Internship in HCI and Interaction Design to join a diverse and dynamic<br \/>\n&gt; group of researchers and industry practitioners creating new<br \/>\n&gt; technologies for media and entertainment industry.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; This is paid position and it&#8217;s starts on SEPTEMBER, 2009.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; The ideal candidate would be a PhD or Master student in science,<br \/>\n&gt; engineering or interaction design and have experience in at least one<br \/>\n&gt; of the following areas:<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; Physical User Interfaces:<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Haptics and tactile feedback interfaces,<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Tangible and embodied interfaces,<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Actuated and robotic interfaces,<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Smart materials and novel actuators.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; Ubiquitous computing:<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Innovative sensors and sensor networks,<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Interactive surfaces,<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Interfaces for mobile devices,<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; User activity tracking and recognition,<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Spatial sound.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; Interactive computer graphics:<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; 3D user interfaces,<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Perceptual rendering,<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Interfaces for easy content authoring,<br \/>\n&gt; &#8211; Augmented and mixed reality.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; The successful candidate should have excellent spoken and written<br \/>\n&gt; English and strong hardware and\/or software development skills.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; * About Disney Research.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; Disney Research is a newly formed association of research labs within<br \/>\n&gt; Walt Disney Company whose mission is to create new technologies and<br \/>\n&gt; contribute to a broad variety of product groups including animation<br \/>\n&gt; studios, such as Pixar, parks, toys and consumer products, web<br \/>\n&gt; services, games as well as other product divisions within the company.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; Full participation in the global R&amp;D community is required through<br \/>\n&gt; publication of results, collaboration with universities, and<br \/>\n&gt; participation in professional service activities.
