This year, participants will build mobile applications using the TPad Phone. The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetpadphone.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">TPad Phone<\/a>\u00a0is an Android smartphone with a variable-friction haptic display. Students will write an Android application that uses the haptic display to solve some real-world problem. Teams will compete for $3,000 in cash prizes and each member of a winning team will receive a brand new Microsoft Surface Pro 3, up to 12 total.<\/p>\n<h3>Important Dates<\/h3>\n<p>Mar 14- Applications Open<\/p>\n<p>Apr 14- Applications Due (all deadlines\u00a011:59 pm PST)<\/p>\n<p>Apr 17- Teams Notified<\/p>\n<p>Apr 19- Phones Sent, Deadline for Conference Registration<\/p>\n<p>June 19- Apps and Videos Due<\/p>\n<p>June 22- Conference Begins<\/p>\n<h3>How to Participate<\/h3>\n<p>To participate, your team must submit a one page application describing your concept and team qualifications. Ten teams will be chosen, and will be sent a TPad Phone. You will have several weeks to write and test your applications before presenting your work at the World Haptics Conference in Evanston, IL, USA to conference attendees and a jury.
