The Director of the Museum must be a passionate and energetic person with the ability to\u00a0succeed in accomplishing multiple tasks simultaneously. S\/he must have business management\u00a0skills and be a team leader and have the ability to promote the museum\u2019s collection with diverse\u00a0audiences and to build and relationships for this new museum in Los Angeles. S\/he must have\u00a0exceptional communications skills in the promotion of the integrity of the collection to a new\u00a0audience in America as well as business management skills.<\/div>\n

The Museum of Broken Relationships in Los Angeles grew out of a museum in Zagreb as well\u00a0as from international traveling exhibitions revolving around the concept of failed relationships\u00a0and their ruins. Unlike \u2018destructive\u2019 self-help instructions for recovery from failed loves, the\u00a0Museum offers a chance to overcome an emotional collapse through creation: by contributing to\u00a0the Museum’s collection. Conceptualized in Croatia, it has since toured internationally. This is\u00a0the first permanent museum location outside of Croatia.<\/div>\n

Specific Responsibilities:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Astounding opportunity to curate and oversee the overall direction in opening a new\u00a0and exciting cultural museum in Los Angeles, California.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Supervise the design team in developing the first U.S. Branch of an international\u00a0museum and all management functions relating to the operation of a business,\u00a0including handling receipts.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Managerial duties include hiring and supervision of up to 10 museum staff and\u00a0dealing with vendors.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Organize design plans, including staffing and stock for an onsite bookstore and\u00a0coffee shop and management of same on an ongoing basis.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Promote systems for donations of exhibits from the public via website, curate the\u00a0collection and display of an international collection.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Build an audience for the Museum\u2019s programs to meet the interests and needs of\u00a0diverse audiences.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Oversee promotional plans using social media with strong online presence.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Oversee the management and growth of the museum\u2019s collections.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Organize storage systems for items not on display.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Candidates will possess:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Background in art history or related field, and experience in development\/ management\u00a0of a cultural museum collection or archive, a plus.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and\/or experience.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Desire to provide effective vision and integrity in the preservation and display of the\u00a0collection.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Skills to manage promotion, collection and maintenance of the incoming donations to the\u00a0collection.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Organizational skills necessary to mount exhibitions, draft online publications, present\u00a0tours and lectures.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Ability to work effectively with staff and a wide variety of museum supporters, visitors,\u00a0members, and volunteers.<\/div>\n
