The network involves at present 60 professors and over 200\r\ndoctoral students, and the participating units graduate altogether more\r\nthan 40 new doctors each year.\r\n\r\nThe activities of HICT are structured along five research area specific\r\ntracks:\r\n- Algorithms and machine learning\r\n- Life science informatics\r\n- Networks, networked systems and services\r\n- Software and service engineering and systems\r\n- User centered and creative technologies\r\n\r\nThe quality of research and education in both HICT universities is\r\nworld-class, but the education is still practically free as there are no\r\ntuition fees in the Finnish university system. Helsinki has been ranked as\r\nthe World's Most Livable City (Monocle, 2011), and is the capital city of\r\nFinland, which is in the top 10 of the most highly educated nations in the\r\nworld (OECD, 2013), and has been selected as the world?s best country to\r\nlive in (Newsweek, 2010).\r\n\r\nThe participating units of HICT have currently 20 fully funded positions\r\navailable for exceptional doctoral students. The call closes on August 6,\r\n2015 at 12 noon EEST (UTC+3).
